I envisage the membership of Esato as akin to a shoal of fish, whichever way the lead fish turns the the rest follow as one body!! i wish that those agreeing with tranquil would express reasons as to why, rather than nodding their heads inanly in unison!. |

I have to say masseur, that the issue here is not about posting right or freedoms about topics to do with other manufacturers or OS, it's to do with a YYYxYY image that could be changed for the individuality of a user.
I personally feel that an avatar of choice is not wrong and does not spoil a forum, take Mobile-Review for example, 50x50 avatars (very small) and they don't ruin the forum, no matter how random they may be!

I can understand tanquil's point of view; it is nice nice in a way to keep Esato focused on it's core values (although I think there betters ways of doing that, but let's not get me started on that!). However, personal avatars are a nice way of allowing members to express themselves more and inject a bit of vibrancy and a dash of colour and joviality to the proceedings. Set a sensible size limit and personal avatars don't have to be domineering.

I agree. Its just edging on pathetic for me, its a mobile phone forum not a governing body. Lets give the members a bit of free space to personalise their users.
Signatures are so heavily moderated, why not give us personal avatars?
I know from experience it will attract more members

@van
I don't think Esato has a problem in attracting members. Personal avatars would be a nice touch to add a splash of individuality though. A spot of fun.

as i have said before, even if we don't have personal avatars i see no reason why we do not have available the full catalogue of SE phones (e.g. all three original t610 colours, all six originial z600 colours, both black and white versions of the t630, both black and silver versions of the k750, etc., etc., possibly even to the extent of including all SE original style-up covers as well).
this would at least make the avatars a little more personal, and provide a better reflection of which particular version of a handset actually has or prefers.
for myself, i own a blue z600 and AFAIC i should be able choose that as an avatar.
