@targett - Avatars will 'start' to reveal it's - IDEAL color/shade, once you've already made around - 50 ++ posts

You have a good GUESS then matey . . . Your K750i avatar will darken - soon as you hit around 50 ++ posts. So, if you want your avatar to appear 'normal' at once, better choose a model fone which has a 'white' color casing, like that of the T68i . . . !

I would love to know why Esato has the saddest smallest choice of Avatars on the WWW!! |

@mweb6161
Because Esato is one of the few forums left on the whole www. who has had the guts to stay un-cluttered with big, bragging, flashing, eye soaring, attention seeking, horrible "personal" avatars (and signatures).

I think they could include a wider variety of /// + SE phones though to have a bit more individuality..

The post count issue may have some merit, but an avatar can allow one a certain freedom of expression and individuality, an ethos that Esato surely cant be against!! Unless you really DO desire a forum of SE loving automatons!. |

take it easy, this forum has been setup primarily to discuss and help with issues relating to and to some extent, ericsson devices, but it also provides for, and welcomes, wide ranging discussion outside of the prime goals and can hardly be described as a forum of SE loving automatons! (have you not read any of my many posts regarding the windows mobile platform, for example?)
it just so happens that the site owner chooses to limit avatars available to the phones covered by the prime purpose of this site so as not to dilute that purpose, and certainly the point made by tranquil carries much validity too
this is hardly an argument that your freedom of expression and individuality are limited?
please, feel free to discuss anything you like within our forum rules. avatars are merely an automatic way of seeing a phone image with your post but if the predefined ones do not suit then you are welcome to post images of whatever phone you choose in each and every post you are make.
personally, I feel this issue is fairly minor and certainly in no way should reduce your enjoyment of our forums if you assist others and/or get answers for your own problems... and that pretty much sums up what we are about, not pretty little phone pictures

As many of the people who have posted in this thread probably won't know, (since they joined five minutes ago ) I have long been an advocate of personal avatars. However, I hardly think that not allowing them is quite as melodramtic as mweb makes out. I don't feel that my freedom of expression or individuality are being compromised by Esato not letting me have the avatar of my choice.
I would like to respond to tranquil's comments though.

That's quite a picture you paint! I find that personal avatars are a nice addition to a forum when sensible rules are put in place e.g. a sensible limit on their size. Why should personal avatars necessarily have negative connotations? If they are implemented correctly then they can be a nice feature for both the members and the forum.

Sorry if I was a bit too direct there, but I like Esato the way it is.
Personal avatars will only ruin the design of the forum imo.

Nothing wrong with giving a direct answer to a direct question Tranquil, But i think Scotsboy hit the nail on the head by stating that AVs etc used in a sensible and controlled fashion actually add benefit to the useage and appearance of a site. Esato is a reknowned and valued resource for SE devotees but it could be made so much more attractive visually of that i am certain!! |
