i either lob into the office first thing in the morning to get the tail end of a day's discussion, or i start a new thread which gets largely ignored because i posted it hours before everyone else is awake! i try to hold off posting new topics to the end of the day to maximise the exposure, but the latest i usually post is still only 7-8am GMT (today is an exception).

Aww poor gelf. Post here if youre feeling left out. We will check regularly and make sure we talk to you here. [addsig]

thanks so much guys. my very own garbage thread

it's just a pity that even though i got into work early today i still missed all the fun.

i look forward to many a long discourse on the meaning of life, the nature of being, and the fate of the universe - or more likely talking a whole lotta crap.

for some reason my piss-antenna is raised, and i can't seem to shake the feeling....

@jojo: i am an engineer, but please don't hold that against me. being an "Einstein" and a mathematician are somewhat mutually exclusive, since Einstein was notoriously bad at maths.

@gelfen - So, it's nice to see you back in this thread mate - your 1st post so to speak . . . Also, 'am glad to know and read as well that you are an 'engineer' by profession, looks like you are also a 'nature' lover.

Hello Gelfen, I'll talk to you too!

I wonder if I'll ever get my own garbage thread?

morning all!

it's a coolish day in melbourne town. expected top 15 degrees with showers, currently it's 10 degrees.

@sammy: you're welcome here anytime, along with everyone else.

@jojo: why do you think i'm a nature-lover?

@jojo - you're too kind!!

@Gelfen - is that nature lover or naturist? hehe!

As you're an engineer btw - I've just got a Nokia 6610 to restore with some keys that don't work, it looks like the connector on the PCB has lost a tiny pin that connects to the screen - any ideas on how to fix it? I've been trying unsucessfully to insert some tinfoil into the tiny tiny gap where the pin was - have you any suggestions on how to fix this?

i'm a chemical/process engineer, not electrical. however, i would guess that a small amount of solder *might* work if the connection is meant to be permanent (and you feel like taking advice from an amateur )

@gelfen: Oops, wrong type of engineer. Thanks for your help anyway!

I'd better get me a soldering iron!

Mind you, I don't trust myself with one of those things, will melt the entire phone knowing me!!

@gelfen - You being a 'nature lover'? Well I just based it on one of your posts, which has the word 'nature' and 'universe' . . . hmmm maybe you work for NASA too? Chemical engineer, is my Dad too, he worked for our country's #1 Pharmaceutical Co. for 34 loong years, are you in a way 'inclined' with that 'nature' as well? What does a 'process engineer' do, if I may ask of you my friend?
@sammy-boy - Your wish is my command(o) ! My apologies if the trash collected today is not as cavernous as you might have expected . . . (teheheheh)
