Dont think I'll bother getting another. If my daughter wants a K750 I'll get her one of those much cheaper and I have several 512mb memory cards not doing much so its much the same from what I saw.
Not fussed by the W800 (never really was) and less so with vodafone telling me it wasn't branded simply because you can use any MP3 as ringtone when in fact vodafone branded to me means ANYTHING changed from standard
thats probably the shortest I have ever had a phone!

| Thats a very sad news. You just bought the phone and returned it.

Well, I have to agree with Masseur. I had a chance to put my hands on w800i (sold here since this Wednesday) and as I do have k750i already, for me, there is not any point to swap them.

I guess I am a bit different then; I preffer the W to the K
Both colour combination and keyboard layout (Walkman- Activity- button) appeals to me.
All in all I guess it is a matter of taste.

i got mine this afternoon unbranded. wonder, what the play now menu can do for me - have to rtfm ...
the activity menu i have with 'cursor up' movement.
MP3 files, I copied to the memory stick, can be played, if i create a
playlist, if i choose 'interpret' I get the message, that I need to
transfer the files with Disc2Phone ...

It's too bad such a nice phone is wasted on someone who doesn't (can't or won't) appreciate it. I'm glad to hear that you returned it as maybe that will give someone who really wants/likes the phone a chance to own it. If you were never happy with the phone to begin with it doesn't make much sense as to why you bought it in the first place??? As you said... The K750i is cheaper and you like it better. Thus, you should have just got one of those from the get go.
I for one LOVE my W800i and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Different strokes for different folks I guess...

sarcasm noted
actually I bought the W800 so that both kids and I had either a K750 or the W800. My son already has the K750 as do I and my daughter wants to swap her K700 for one of them.
The thing is that I have a total dislike of branded phones so once I found out about the vodafone live! changes mentioned earlier I just had to take it back.
Good news though, I went to carphone warehouse and got a fully unbranded one on the upgrade today and it was free so the deal was even better than going to vodafone directly.
Having played for half a day I do like the music application though of course the K750 can play the same music but its presented better in the W800. I still have the same comments regarding the walkman button vs the activity button.
probably the worst thing I dislike is the colour scheme of the housing but if SE bring out another colour such as suggested in the Blue W800i ?" thread I would be more tempted.
I've now committed myself to living with this for the next week at which point I will decide whether to let my son have this and my daughter have his K750, or I'll keep the W800 and my daughter will get my K750 and I'll upgrade my sons K750 to the W800 firmware as he prefers that
we'll see

If you have a contract with say O2 from in a store can you go to CPW and upgrade on that contract after telling them your details or will you have to go to an O2 store?

@masseur, thanks for that post - I definitly can't do without the activity button, so I won't be flashing my K750 to W800 after all. I would quite like to have flight mode, but not at the expense of the activity button.
Your info helped me avoid that pitfall |

@coxy, I'm sure you can upgrade all networks at carphone warehouse
@max_wedge, I'm about to upload all the original W800 content and put a link to it in a thread, as I did for the K750, so you might like some of that. I do like a couple of the W800 themes such as equalizer which I am using now and also the soundwave theme

any chance you moderators can get together and think about making phone categories for these new models now....site interface is a mess....and i dont say it lightly, i've stopped visiting for along time and when i do return, finding the correct info is a chore to say the least.
probably not gonna return to see any response, just think about the wider implications of no clear categories for phone users and see that it makes sense.

a little off topic in this thread, I guess, and unfortunately only laffen controls the layout of Esato. However, with the number of models that Sony Ericsson now offer, perhaps it is time to consider putting this suggestion to him

Perhaps it might worth concidering, yes.
OK, back on track; I've had my W800 for a few days now and I am way more impressed with this phone than I was when I got my K750.
The K750 was "just" an upgrade from the K700. The major difference was really the camera. OK, a couple of other minor things, yes, but nothing else really. It was a good mobile phone with a crackin' good camera.
The W800 is something else; OK, the main features of the K750 is there with the camera and menu but the W800 is a NEW phone. It has features that are pin pointed on music and lesure. It's finally something different to what has launched for a long time.
The W800 is designed for having a good time! It's designed to make ordernary MP3 players redundant. It's designed to give a music lover a chance to carry only one item instead of to. It's designed to make music and mobile telphony play in harmony with each other. It's designed to drw attention from others; The colours white and metallic orange leaves no doubt to others that this is something different. It's designed fro ease of recognition; You see white and orange and know exactly what it is straight away.
The WOW!!!-factor of has been moved from the K750 to the W800!
All I ever wanted from an MP3 player has been moves in to a mobile phone I like. That is why I sing the praise to W800 these days.
I wish the head phones were better though... But even that is not that big a deal since were clever enough to create the option of using propper head phones without voiding the functionality of the phones hands free kit.
Am I a happy W800 owner?
I am indeed!
(Where my K750 ended up? In my wife's purse. )
