As far as I know the direct S700 replacement was cancelled a while back. I think the nearest we'll get is the Wilma which I believe will be announced tomorrow. From what I’ve seen this could be a good phone. One of the things that’s makes the S700 a good camera phone is not just the pixels (which is low by todays standards), but the guts were based on a proper camera. The problem I have with the Walkman branding is that they've released about 8 Walkman phones an no primarily imaged based ones. I think the S700 is a great concept and was really hoping for a follow on. Mine still turns heads and it’s 16 months old - not many phones can do that! |

i do hope will release phones with "cybershot" branding, but i think they are more keen on developing phones with "walkman" branding...

i want to stop announcing W-branded phones and start announcing cybershot branded phones.
or a good s700 replacement!! come on SE, or i will move to the others.
there is no suitable s700i replacement and I am sick and tired of W phone. 1 is wonderful, 2 are ok, 3 ...get by..but by now, there are toooooo many w branded SE models.
ok, SE, we got the ideea, you CAN make W phones, but what if WE want something else?? should we try at Nokia or Moto or samsung?
for instance:
my favourite phone would be a s700i swivel design with p910 menu.
is that hard to make a s700i with symbian and 2-3 mpx camera?
hope SE can read this!! it is not a single opinion.,...we are far too many who want this!!

i have a suggestion... since the S700i looks more like a camera than a phone, why not create another phone similar to the S700i with optical zoom? in doing so, it will be nearer to what other people want in a "cyber-shot" phone branding...

I must say the new K800 looks very promising. It has what I think is the best feature of the S700i and that is the QVGA screen.
No matter how good it is though, I'll always regard the S700i as the best SE have ever made. It really does ooze class. Swivel form factor ftw! |

i'm still waiting for the S700's successor... W900 may be one, but it doesn't have the appeal of the S700. same as the K790; although both phones are better in terms of features, there's just something in the S700 that sets it apart from the others... maybe the scratch-resistant screen? maybe the looks of a digital camera? maybe... something else?

I have to agree. The S700i was a legend. It was beautiful - and so strong. Once i dropped it and sent it skidding across the street and down a drain. It was perfectly fine.
What I appreciated most was its stability. It never froze and was the most reliable phone I ever owned. |

I have to agree with that, I have dropped mine on a concrete floor and watched it skid for about 10 feet, the phone was absolutely fine.
Also my S700 has never froze on me at all, I'm still using it today as my second phone and it's still going strong.
