I have noticed that many are looking for the feature mentioned in the subject. I found this company that sells both USB and CF card form factors. The link as follows: http://www.billionton.com.tw/english/product/bluetooth.htm

The USB one sells for USD59.

Aaargh! i just bought MSI USB weeks ago and already have Anycom CF.

I dind't find any info concerning the selling of these products.... Where can I buy them fo the small price you told?
Thank you in advance

a bluetooth compact flash card?!?! never heard of thing like that before... for what is it used?
and for the bluetooth usb adapter is it good? does it support all the profiles of MSI?

Posted by cadcad
neither did I!! where is that "order" button they're talking about?!

Posted by bhargava
@cadcad

A Bluetooth CF-card is actually quite normal

You can for instance plug it in a Casio Cassiopeia, Compaq IPAQ or other handheld devices, and then you have a sender/receiver on your PDA!

It's the same as a CF WLAN card or a CF memory card. You just plug the card in the CF-port..

@pinolo, it's sold here http://www.zxpro.com/Modems/usbbluetooth.htm and they claim to ship internationally from hong kong

@cadcad, my anycom bluetooth card is cf. there are three common formats for bluetooth devices: compact flash (cf), pc card (pcmcia) and usb. bhargava is absolutely right.

I just ordered one ... it cost me 72$

Just bought a Billionton Bluetooth USB plug... it's VERY small... beats 3Com's USB size-wise by a LOT... the whole thing is a little shorter than 2". Very easy to carry around with your laptop. If only PDAs came with a USB port, this thing would be perfect! hahaha...wishful thinking.

Short review... so far this thing performs well... constant search is on every minute. It places an icon on your desktop for all Bluetooth devices...Kind of like a Network Neighborhood for Bluetooth devices. Everything you pair with the device is listed here so no need for re-pairing.

It works well with my T68 & R310s w/ DBA-10. With the DBA-10, you don't need to pair it everytime you switch phones... the pairing is between the DBA-10 and the other device, not the phone it is connected to.

With regards to the HSP in the Billionton specs... it states (HSP READY), which means it currently doesn't support the headset profile... but it can. I emailed them already on any news regarding future driver updates for the HSP.

It really would be nice if I could use my BT headset for Windows audio.. mic/mono speaker... useful for vid-con, dictation, and voice commands.

@jplacon, congrats on your new accessory. Casio E-200 has USB support (you need drivers though, but then again Billionton said Pocket PC and even Windows CE). Care to share how much and where you got one?

jlacson... how much did u get and where? thanks.

Someone from BNC posted that s/he got a billionton locally for P3,500

Posted by 619
mircostation robinson's galleria... P3,500 ....

Posted by jplacson
P3500 in Officenter in Parksquare 1... in front of JB Music. Seems to be priced the same throughout the city... so just go to the place most convenient.

I'm pretty happy with it... simple straightforward. Although it does get a bit confused when you have more than one BT modem within range and you're trying to do dial-up. I don't know if it's just the SW it came with, the plug itself, or just inherent to BT in general.

It does automatically install BT drivers for just about everything, BT LAN, Device Sync, BT Printer, File Exchange, BT Dial-up networking, BT Serial Ports (Adds Virtual Com ports 4-16 I think), and BT Fax.

I like the interface, and the cute BT logo on the taskbar. It doesn't light up though...but I wasn't really keen on another useless power draining thing on my laptop.

Range is ok... If MSI's range is really 100 ft line-of-sight... then that IS the best I've seen so far...even 3Com's is only 30ft max... the Billionton is about 20 ft line-of-sight to your PC, and about 10 ft if there's a concrete wall between the two.

The SW also has a signal strength indicator, it shows how strong the signal is to any Bluetooth device... I'm planning to buy an extension cable so that the plug is away from my PC housing when I plug it into my desktop.

Hi jplacson,

I bought billionton BT two weeks ago. It works fine with PBTM and XTND.

Have you tried to use it with to GPRS of T68 ?

Do you know how to set up the connection ?

Cheers

Posted by GOwin
I suggest that you look at the other thread discussion.

Principles are generally the same for setting up connectivity between your phone and PC.

Posted by arnoldc
@madness, you need to create a dial-up networking profile to use your T68 as a modem via bluetooth.

Posted by MADNESS
Thanks guys !

Will try it out.

Posted by jplacson
Yes, I have used it with the GPRS of the T68 Although it's Globe's reception that is very erratic.. when I am able to get a good signal...speed is pretty decent.. I can average a normal 28.8 connection. Yahoo video conferencing is bearable.

Posted by MADNESS
Managed to connect with T68i GPRS. The billionton USB Bluetooth is pretty simple to configure.

Posted by cadcad
hey i just ordered one a couple of days ago and received it today ... after a week.!! but i don't seem to know how to make it work with anything!! help!! I only need it for GPRS connection. when i was looking in the properties i noticed that i don't have the option of choosing my t68 as a modem but only my dial-up connection modem! why is that? plus i dunno if i have MPM and if it's needed!

Regarding the HSP profile, you'd have to wait until WIDCOM supports it..

The BillionTon, Tecom BT3030 (AKA Belkin BT USB), MSI MS-6967 use the WIDCOM BT stack for Windows.

I got two BillionTon's and they work great.. Got it working with both the

SocketCom Bluetooth CF card (115$) <-- uses SocketCom's DRAKAR BT stack for PPC.

and the

BELKIN Bluetooth CF (65$) <-- uses the PocketPC 2002 WIDCOM BT stack..

Posted by funks
If you guys want to use the latest WIDCOM stack (ie. TDK 1.2.2.15 or the MSI 1.2.2.15) uninstall your current WIDCOM stack / restart / install the TDK 1.2.2.15 or the MSI 1.2.2.15 then download

http://www.pocketbuddy.com/files/Bluetooth/BTUSB.zip

unzip someplace

Plug the Billionton USB adapter in, then point it to where you extract the file..

hey funks, want to post a mini-review of the billionton similar to what gowin did for msi?

I'll try to in the next few days..

In regards to HSP support, it works now with either the MSI or the TDK 1.2.2.15 WidCOM BT stack..

The proper bt audio drivers already comes with said packages but one needs to install the drivers manually..

For the MSI Bluetooth 1.2.2.15 drivers..

Retrieve and unzip the "data1.zip" file then point XP's add new hardware wizard by going to

Control Panel / Add Hardware / Yes, I have already connected the hardware / Add a new hardware device / Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced) / Sound, video and game controllers / have disk

then point it to where you unzipped the "data1.zip" file..

It should show something like Bluetooth Audio Device, install.

Navigate to where you unzipped the "data1.zip" file, the right click on "headset.reg" <-- then click on merge..

Reboot and the HSP profile will now appear.

Let us know how it works as I don't have a BT headset

btw, the Billionton CF device is not available yet, it's in the final stages of validation and testing..

For a great CF Bluetooth card, check out Belkin CF PDA adapter which uses the WIDCOM BT stack for WinCE (doesn't support the HSP profile though, none of CF cards do at this time).

where do i get the "data1.zip" file? TIA

Posted by jplacson
funks, how do I use the new drivers to enable HSP on my Billionton?

Posted by funks
regarding "data1.zip", if you download the MSI Bluetooth Drivers (1.2.2.15) and extract the BT41.exe into a dir, you'll notice that there's a "data1.zip" file..

I believe it's only available with the 1.2.2.15 driver set. The Billionton USB BT shipped with the 1.2.2.9 driver set..

Uninstall your current WIDCOMM stack..
Install the MSI WidCOMM 1.2.2.15 BT stack

download the BTUSB.zip file from http://www.pocketbuddy.com/files/Bluetooth/BTUSB.zip

Point the unknown USB device to where you unzipped the "BTUSB.zip" file..

The WIDCOMM BT stack show how be installed and the BT device working..

Follow the directions I posted earlier (data1.zip) then you'll be able to click on your bluetooth neighborhood - pair up with the HeadSet device, drill down to the service then just hit connect.

I'm not sure how well it works as I don't have a headset..

I tried that... It can find my headset... it doesn't want to pair with the headset (but my headset paired with the PC...weird) It doesn't show up in the Bluetooth Places...

It can't find a compatible service... the Billionton Services doesn't include audio....not yet anyway...

did you merge the "headset.reg" file?

Check this picture out.. Here's what mine shows..

Posted by funks
Sorry, but instead of "data1.zip" it's supposed to be "data1.cab".. WinZIP was masking the info from me, didn't notice it earlier.

Can you do anything with this HSP if you don't have a headset?

I set it all up. It added Headset and Voice Gateway services to the bluetooth adaptor, and the phone (T68i) reports it supports voice gateway.
When i try to connect the connection is created but only lasts a couple of seconds and I don't get a message on the phone screen.

I have the hpm-10 mp3 player and i thought it would be cool if i could use the headset as a wireless headset for my pc but it seems that is not the case.

Are bluetooth headsets always mono sound + microphone or is it possible to get a stereo one? Probably at the moment is is much cheaper to get a standard cordless headset. I've seen the philips one for about £25 somewhere.

The 1.2.3 version mentioned on the TDK site sounds interesting, I wonder when it will be available.

Has anybody else tried flashing a newer firmware on this beast? The Billionton WidComm 1.2.2.9 device firmware upgrade utility using the "dc01.dfu" file in the same dir just hangs stating "download status: Transfer" and it never finishes..

Newer Widcomm stacks are usually paired with a certain firmware.. Oh well, does anybody know if it's flashable?

Will applications like Float's Mobile Agent work with the Billionton USB BT adapter?

Posted by iamgoodman
I tried this on my MSI BT Key and succeeded. But have two problems:

1) The sound quality is very poor. Just like choking.

2) What can one do with the HSP enabled BT headset connected to a laptop? Just listen to the "ding" "dong"?

Rgds,

Posted by iamgoodman
Yes, I upgraded the firmware in my MSI BT key, which comes with the 1.2.2.15 driver package.

The fact is that without upgrading the firmware, it couldn't connect to the headset.

I used the flashing tools in the package and everything ran very smooth, nothing funny happened at all.

Using the instructions included in the thread, I tried to get my HBH-30 to work with WinXP, however the audio is just static and useless.

Perhaps they need to do a bit more work on it =)
