I WANT JAVA T.V REMOTE CONTROL(IR)
PLEASE SOMEBODY FIND ME OUT

Posted by XDvir
Not Possible!!!

The IR of a TV and the IR of computers and Phones are different.
You cannot use make the phone send an IR signal totally out of it's spectrum.

It will however be able to control a computer, if you'd have a media computer with a program like Girder.

Enjoy...

It's possible on a nk6600... So why not the k700? I want it too!

IR remote control is only possible on symbian phones like p800,p900...:-Dp910 and stupid blokia!:-D

Posted by ares
It canīt be made for the k700 not because it doesnīt have symbian, but because it doesnīt have the necessary API to acess the IR port...itīs the same with the bluetooth port

I'd personally like to know how different the IR of a TV remote and the IR of a phone is so different

My guess:

Since has blocked several hardware functions you can't program a TV remote for the K700.

My conclusion of this thread is that only the IR of the Smartphones can be programmed to be used for television sets.

Anther good thing for the 6670 in the long run against SE k700i

or MIDP 2.0 ?? i was thought that MIDP has access to more 'functions' like symbian ? donno if it's posible to access the IR APIs via MIDP 2.0 through...

& PS: not only SE smartphones can do this, but also all the SYMBIAN or WINDOWS enabled phones. (including Nokia, OrangeSPV, etc)

Sorry, I didn't explain properly.

I meant only the Smartphones among 's phones.

Though I haven't read about MIDP so I might be wrong.

people people come on now, why would u want this anyway. think how long the range of your IR is!! youd have to get so close to the TV to use it you might as well press the button yourself!
trust me ive had the IR remote on my 6600 and its fooking useless!
now if TV's and the like would use BT for remote controls it might actually be worth having!

jus forget it!

For the last time: with the current specs/firmware on the k700i itīs IMPOSSIBLE to make such a java app...it requires a special API that gives acess to the IR port, that doesnīt exist in the k700i!

Itīs just the same with bluetooth: we canīt have any working java app for bluejacking or a multiplayer bt game, because k700i doesnīt suppor JSR 82 API, that gives acess to the BT port...for instance, the 6230 has it...

If only SE launched new firmwares for the new midp 2.0 phones (k700, z1010, s700, k500, etc) with those APIīs (if that is possible)...

Really? Maybe it's the application. Using psiloc ir remote, P800 range is 2-3m and blockia series 60 1.5-2.5m . not bad actually.

Hey, wait a minute... This is all about the K700. But what about the K750i?

Can't we have an IR remote for the 750i?

I see your point about he firmware, but firmware is just software, it can be updated. Right?

IR remote control is only for Symbian phones - the file is *.sis not java app - *.jar or *.jad!

Im not so sure about bluetooth. I saw someone playing a bluetooth multiplayer game on T610 which doesnt support JSR-82. How was that possible?

I am also interested to know if anyone ever developed/saw a midlet to use bluetooth on K700i.

Thx

I just tested my IR, it's range to the laptop is 50cm.

Not very far for a tv remote

Posted by pappfer
@mstanescu: You can play multiplayer games over BT with the T610, but only Mophun games. That's why you saw it.
