Apple has just sent out press invites for its latest event, via The Loop, where the company is expected to announce the iPhone 6. The event is scheduled for 10 AM Pacific Time on September 9th. Atypically, Apple is holding the event at a new venue, the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino. This is the same venue that Apple introduced the original Mac, over 30 years ago. Apple has constructed a ‘three-story structure’ at the site, which may be used as the hands-on area after the presentation is over. Usually, Apple’s demo areas are only the size of a large room and do not span multiple floors.

This must be the worst kept secret in in all of mobile history. We already know pretty much all there is to know about the iPhone 6 I just wonder what Apple have left up their sleeve to amaze us with.

Not much left, just selling more of them than a few other flagships combined

I quite like the design of the phone that was leaked however i am keeping my fingers crossed for the phablet version which might be announced later. If it isn't i might get the 4.7 iphone 6

I also want the 5.5inch iP6 to be announced soon, that may JUST sway me from the Note 4, we'll see. What I hope though is that the phablet has at least 2GB RAM as I recently read that the 4.7inch may just have 1GB, either way, I wasn't going to get the 4.7inch as whatever phone I get will use as my main and I don't want anything less than 5inch.

Apple are really expanding their range 5c, 5s, 6 and air (4s and 5 are EOL) within the iPhone brand and it's clear to see why. According to a report GSMARENA posted a few days back Apple has lost 11% market share to Android in the US which is normally an Apple stronghold. Could Apple be a little bit afraid of Google's ever growing dominance in the smartphone world and could they be losing their way a bit since the passing of Steve Jobs. Personally I think it's good move for Apple a move in which they are probably 18 months to 2 years behind the trend but I suppose it's better late than never.

Here is that report from GSMARENA.COM

It looks great but that protruding camera lens is well out of place it may get scratched easier than previous models plus the phone won't sit flat when on a table meaning texting would be a bit awkward as it would wobble from side to side but apart from that it's certainly a good looking phone.

You text with your phone the table? I find it very difficult, then again I'm a t9 guy, I simply can't do QWERTY unless it's a tablet or larger.

Most (that I know) iPhone users use cases, so that should help with making the back flat. Every Samsung Galaxy S from the S2 has had a protruding camera, doesn't seem to affect most though.

yes its a rather strange design but maybe that's not final ?

But Tsepz_GP is right, most iPhone users have it in a case so its okay.. I think that's kind of the point of making so thin, that way even with a case on it you are looking at around 10mm

Hopefully they can get the camera flush with the back of the phone it would look that bit better and I'm probably one of the 0.1% of people who do type with the phone on a table and a case would have the phone flush with the camera. The ip6 is certainly the best looking iPhone I think, I've always been critical of their design but they've do a great job on the 6 providing the design doesn't change a great deal once it goes official.

This is huge:

they always wait until the market and the technology is 110% ready and then they go in.. they have the influence and the install base to make this into a standard if they wanted to..

Its going to be using secure NFC, which is what Nokia tried to push years ago and got nowhere.. now, finally, we will see how it all works

I did read somewhere that Apple did purchase a lot of OIS units so that could be good.

So in just over 24 hours Apple will be holding an event which is likely to unveil the iPhone 6 and the iPhone Air. There is also a chance Apple will take the lid of the much rumored iWatch. So what do we know about the new iPhone's, well almost everything has been leaked revealing a brand new design and finally a larger display. Below are what is to be believed to be the specs of each of the 2 new products.

iPhone 6

4.7" display with 1334 x 750 resolution (326 PPI)
137.5 x 67 x 7 mm
113 g
Dual-core 2 GHz A8 64bit CPU
1GB of RAM
32, 64 and 128GB memory NO 16GB version on launch ?
camera module to remain the same but higher MP count
2 tone LED flash for rear camera.
iOS8 on launch with new fitness apps to tie in with the iWatch
Space gray, white/silver and gold colour options.
1810mAh battery.
NFC chip for wireless payments and short range data transfer (via bluetooth 4.0)
LTE ready
Touch ID fingerprint sensor built into the home key
Power/lock key moved to the side for better ergonomics

iPhone Air

5.5" Sapphire glass display 2208 x 1242 resolution (460 PPI)
158 x 78 x 7.1 mm
156 g
Dual-core 2 GHz A8 64bit CPU
1GB of RAM
32, 64 and 128GB memory NO 16GB version on launch ?
Larger camera sensor and have OIS (how Apple will differentiate the 2 products)
2 tone LED flash for rear camera.
iOS8 on launch with new fitness apps to tie in with the iWatch
Space gray, white/silver and gold colour options.
2915mAh battery.
NFC chip for wireless payments and short range data transfer (via bluetooth 4.0)
LTE ready
Touch ID fingerprint sensor built into the home key
Power/lock key moved to the side for better ergonomics.

The 2 products are very similar in performance with only the camera on the iPhone Air being the main difference. Weather we'll see a difference in Gorilla glass and Sapphire glass remains to be seen.

If this turns out to be an 8Mpix cam with the sensor from the Z2/Z3 ... I really can't wait to see what it can do

Curious... I mean, why only 1 gig of RAM?

cheers!

^ they may have optimised iOS8 to work with 1GB just like Google did with KitKat as you only need 512MB of RAM to operate 4.4 smoothly.

Posted by randomuser
Currently, iOS doesn't need more than 1GB to be honest. But it will make the device future-proof, when future iOS versions will need additional RAM. So I do hope these rumors are false and the i6 comes with at least 2GB RAM.

Only 3 hours left now
