Oh my backing up again, gonna wait for U Jailbreak first before updating

Just checked the updates. Those updates really don't matter to me. The ones i never used. The one thing I'm so interested is the Facebook Integration.

Just updated My iPad , no big difference , Siri's nice, finaly it has a clock app and iCloud tabs in safari could come in handy.

Edit:
The only problem I've discovered is that the Apple maps Isn't nearly as good as the Google ones

I havent jail broken yet, so i am updating it right now. Almost 75% done. I really hope the browser is better now because the old one couldn't even format esato properly.

Posted by djin
My impressions on ios6(ipad2):

Thank god they fiinally got a clock app for ipad! Since i have ipad2 there's no siri here. Browser still doesn't render esato well . Was pretty smooth, but started stuttering when I was trying to update. Maps is ok, interface is good, but since its powered by tomtom, it has the worst POIs. This will change though when more and more people use it.

The app store has a new UI which I think is really good, moreover it doesnt take you to homescreen everytime you want to update an app. This was the most annoying thing in ios. I will have to wait for the developers to update their apps and then see how they perform.

Overall seems like a good update. But nothing to get too excited.

I'm waiting for jailbreak as well.

Have you Discovered that the YouTube app is gone and there's no good way to look at YouTube videos?

Edit: that is for the iPad Of course, The iPhone already got a Native app

I have probably used the youtube app like 2-3 times or when links automatically open up on it. So I dont miss it, infact I hated it. I use safari to browse youtube, works fine for me. Also there is a youtube app on the app store, but its made for iphone for now..

Posted by Ravager
Okay, But I'm getting really tired of the Lack of Features, I can't even get fullscreen mode ! Dammit give me a YouTube app For gods sake...

I downloaded a while ago via wifi felt
To lazy plugging into PC

Btw I really think apple have done well
With this update it makes the phone feel
Abit newer like all the new added stuff

I really like how the AppStore now looks
More like the FanDroid one

For those on a Mac as well, 10.8.2 was available as of last night as well!

This must be the least drama filled iOS update in a while. May update my mums 4S and the 3GS later tonite if im not too lazy.

If its on ios5, then its really easy to update unlike the older ones. You can do it OTA and in 1 step(like android). All in all I liked the update, there are many subtle changes which I am noticing, although I wish I could try the passbook too. Since I travel alot, It looks like it could make things easier.

I hope the passbook with nfc and do not disturb feature come over to android too!

If you value wanting to get around using your phones then you guys might not want to upgrade just yet.

Apple Maps service loses train stations, shrinks tower and creates new airport

Posted by djin
That is to be expected as its a totally new map by one of the worst maps provider(Tomtom). Luckily it doesn't effect me since I use google nav and garmin gps.

But for the iphone users, their loyalty will be tested, as they are being commissioned by Apple on their biggest, longest and most painful war against gmaps.

I dont expect them to come anytime close to garmin, navteq/nokia maps and google maps, in the near future.

Posted by Miss UK
What exactly does that "do not disturb"
Do? I assumed it was ment to keep
The phone quiet when not wanting anyone
Bothering u when I tested it out btw my
Landline calling the iPhone it still rings out
Regardless lol

Can someone please test there's out for me
Please thanks !!!

Posted by djin
Well when you turn on do not disturb, it will automatically silent all notifications, calls etc. But you can select people from whom it will still ring.

Go to notifications, there you can put up a schedule, allow calls from certain contacts(by default it allows favorites, and most probably your land line is in favorites) and also change the option of "repeated calls". That is for ex, if someone keeps calling you then your phone will eventually ring instead of being silent. I think this is a nice option if there is an emergency and some on calls you up. But not a good option if you have an overly attached girl friend

What on earth!??? No way am i updating the iOS devices then.

Why the hell did Apple go with TomTom??? Couldnt they partner up with Garmin? I gave TomTom a chance in both Durban and Cape Town last year, in BOTH cities the TomTom Navigator did one of 3 annoying things:
-Gave us the longest route (even if it had a dirt road)
-Gave us directions to the wrong place
-OR it just didn't know major places
My Xperia X10 at the time with GMaps did a far better job and so did the 4yrld Garmin Navigator we had.

Hope Apple fixes this ASAP.

17 People Apple Maps Has Already Horribly Misled

http://gizmodo.com/5944897/17[....]ps-has-already-horribly-misled

Think we are beginning to see some cracks forming since the loss of Steve Jobs as something like this wouldn't have been released under his leadership.

These are issues i read about a month or so ago when the iOS Developers had iOS6 in testing, thought they would've sorted all of this out by release time.

Posted by goldenface
I've been following this story throughout the day and it's worse than they think.

Businesses have built up a very valuable 'presence' on GMaps for years, spending time and effort making sure they are easily found on mobile devices, with many reviews attached to their business's location.

Posted by skblakee
Oh this maps things is a major blow to Apple. What a headache they are having.

Not for me ... I'm still on a PPC PM G5 2.0Ghz Late 2005 typing this now.

No issues with esato.com loading on iOS IP4/iPad2 on v6.

Posted by ILoveBhe
Lets just give Tomtom a chance, with apple backing them up, im more than sure their maps will dramatically improve.

As for me, it does not mater for i always use offline maps
