The One X looks stunning and from what I have seen on youtube reviews, it performs exellent Great screen, great UI, fast and hopefully a great camera
Not quite sure yet if I go for this one or if I will wait for the S3

Posted by nicv27
Looks good, I want another iPhone to replace my Sensation XL..... Although this could be the phone that changes that

Posted by SKIBBE
I have looked at so many "hands on" videos now...

it looks an preforms great, i pre-ordered it before i saw any shoots of the camera, thinking it can never be as good as the Xperia S but now i am amazed how f*cking fast it is!

Checked the htc site for some accesories today, you need deep pockets for the Desktop-stand and the HDMI dongle A hdmi-cable is the cheapest sulotion, just get a extention in random shop. but i really liked the desktop-stand but allmost 600sek (i think ~60€)

What about the benchmarks?

Posted by adnansanni
I’m really consider to buying it. I’ll prefer any day to HTC’s build quality over Samsung. Samsung GS2 is looks to me very plastic and feels to me plastic and S3 will be the same. I’m only worried about the battery life of it. I’m not sure how 1800 mAh will handle the quad-core, 1280x720 display and the GPU.

@SKIBBE: congratulation for your pre-order. I hope you'll be the first review writer here

Posted by SKIBBE
@adnansanni maybe

In all the videos they say that the Quad Core will help batterylife? meaning, using only GPU and 1 2 and up to 4 cores only when needed. i am eager to see this in real life. as long as it lasts one day with my user pattern i am happy. (can you demand more these days?)

Posted by Killmaster9
@Skibbe

Hehe, you're following in my fotstep. First SE Arc and now HTC One X Hope that you have better luck with this one to start with

I pre-ordered mine from 3 two weeks ago Where did you pre-order yours?

Yes we can, if Motorola can make a phone with upwards of 3,000mAh im sure the rest can. If it means the phone will be slightly heavier, rather that than have the phone die half way through a long day out with family and friends.

Posted by SKIBBE
@Killmaster9 from http://www.tre.se but i just realiased i wount (may) get it later due to the overlapping from my old subscriptions with tre.se that ends april 30, i saw somewhere the phone can arrive as early as week 14. i guess i will have it week 16 at the earliest

The tre.se deal 349kr is awesome (i have it now at 699kr) so i will "save" 50% each month with the same deal, WIN WIN?

@etaab true! a 3000mAh battery would be more sufficient. Read somewhere that "the new ipad" has 50%+ the juice compared to the old ipad2 battery in size. to bad HTC does not have that knowledge (or used it in this case)

This looks like a power house of a phone! Quadcore performance combined with sound by Beats? It's incredible.

What is/does "Sound by Beats" some kind of EQ ? if so, can you turn it off?

Used my google skilz and it was just what i thought gimic and some EQ tweaks - Question still stands, can i turn it of!

Even a 2000mAh battery would give a decent amount of power to get you through the day which im sure is entirely possible at the moment without losing width or weight.

Looks rather lush but I'm disappointed with
The screen size us girlies want small displays 4inch
Not on the way to 5

Size mathers... so have i been told...

I prefer a bigger screen, surfing/reading websites with my 4.3" is a pain, i think the Note is really big!(5.3") so a 5" would be perfect, also it gives you better gaming experince, on smaller screens the fingers block to much of the content :/

--And you girls don't even have to wear it in your pocket you have your purse(bag) so size can't mather?

Posted by Marly
Sometimes size indeed matters

The problem for us girls with these large phones is not, where to put it, when it's not in use, but how to use it!
We usually have smaller hands, than you guys, the thumb doesn't reach the upper left corner of the screen, so for most models we need two hands, which is less comfortable.
That said, hubby has the HTC Titan, also with 4.7 screen, webpages and videos do look better on a bigger screen

Posted by Miss UK
I have small hands and skinny fingers
So the smallest suits me but unfortunately
Looks like my next phone is going to be a
Giant slab sobs

The perfect screen size for me is 4inch
That one on my ex Sensation I could
Use it no problem now I've demoted that down to
3.5 I think with my iPhone 4S using it seems like
It was made for my touch!

I do agree guys have bigger hands fat fingers
But I would be nice if 4inch could still
Remain here for the little wimmim

That phone is nice though htc are are
Really great brand I've been thinking about
Getting a secondhand one for abit of time
But it's not a must factor

Posted by SKIBBE
The One Hand handling factor is a good point as it turns out i am born with small hands too (where's my luck...) Let's hope i can still navigate this Beast!

Update: Can't wait talked to three(www.tre.se) today, they will have them the 5 of april and i will get it the weak after (16) 3 LOOONG weeks of waiting

So it has to be this or the Galaxy S III, right?

Would anyone seriously consider a Sony in comparison to what we know about the X One and what we hear about the SIII - especially since both of them should be available before May?

Would be interested in your views, cos I am pretty sure I am gonna buy one of them.

Posted by SKIBBE
Why i would buy a Sony Xperia S

+ The design
+ If you prefer small HDscreen compared to a 4.7"
+ Dedicated HDMI port (no usb sheit)
+ 12MP camera, compared to 8MP?
+ Smaler phone
+ Budget (a bit cheaper)
+ a bit heavier (~14grams, than ONEX) gives you a more quality feeling?

That is all i can think off
I was (still am) a SE fanboi, but the ONE X is simply amazing, the power ohhh the power

Posted by rickster2kuk
I've got the Xperia S, but I do really like this.

Box looks really cool (better than Sony) and the whole Sense skin with ICS looks lovely.

Just wish HTC would include a physical shutter button.

Really looking forward to the camera samples from this.

New review

Posted by rickster2kuk
Engadget have posted the following reviews:

http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/02/htc-one-x-review/

http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/02/htc-one-s-review/

Both look cracking phones, although my preference would be for the smaller S. I think HTC are on to real winners here, after their lacklustre phones last year, they've really come back strong. Engadget raves about the materials and build quality and the cameras on both. ICS sense seems a really nice overlay which is not too intensive.

Closer inspection of the camera shots at full crop are a a little disappointing, like the Xperia S, a little too much grainy noise, but as with the Xperia S, most people would use 100 crop anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if HTC give Samsung a real run for their money this year.

Posted by Bonovox
I love the high speed camera shooting keeping your finger on the shutter. As for build it is like the Nokia Lumia 800 solid polycarbonate which also apparently improves reception

If it wasnt for the impending Samsung Galaxy S3 threat to this phone i'd have signed up for one right away.

Its gorgeous and the first phone id like in white. I handled to Xperia S today for the first time in my local phone store and found it to feel exactly how i thought it would, square and sharp. The One X's curves are far more attractive to me.

Love this. The fast capture mode & comparing

@Skibbe

Have you got a delivery date yet?

Posted by RandomCarpet
The CPU of One S is actually better and much more (power) efficient than the one in One X, even though its 2 vs 4 core.

Posted by SKIBBE
@killmaster9: no not a date yet, i hope i get it next week, but i dont know due to my subscription may have to give three a call, have you?

Posted by Killmaster9

I really have given up on review sites.

Verge says that HTC ICS Skin is awful and too heavy and ruins ICS experience whilst Engadget says ICS skin lovely and light.

Verge says camera top notch and best in Android system, yet then marks it down for average camera quality - what?

Seriously, I think you need more than one person on these Tech blogs reviewing the device because reviews I am seeing (point in case the X S) are dreadful!

Posted by Miss UK
My Partner has installed ICS on his Sensation and he dislikes too
ive not seen it so cannot comment

@ j0be it might be worthwhile keeping your iPhone aswell as your HTC One
It can be good to keep the best of both sometimes

Posted by rickster2kuk
I would have a real dilemma between the One and One S;

I had a look at the dummy One X in Phones4U, and to me, it's just a little too big - maybe I could get used it it, but I think for me 4 - 4.3 inch screen is ideal. On the flip side thou, One X is better spec wise than the One S which is 4.3.

Pentile display doesn't sound that good on the One S (although I'd have to see it working to judge) and also camera seems to not so good (even thou it's the same sensor). Screen is not HD either on One S.

Posted by Miss UK
Perhaps playing with a live one
Might change the way ur thinking

HTC Sense is really nice system
Htcs are pretty known to have iffy
Battery life unless ur upgrade to a high
Capacity battery !

I would also look into this ones seal
As the Sensation had dust prone problem

Ps agree regarding display size
It will be hard for myself to reach back
To a 4.5 screen coming from a 3.5 iPhone
Lol

But those screens do have there advantages
Anyway go and play with either at CPW
And comeback and let us know what u went for

Watched Phonedog's 2 part review by Aaron Baker of the One X the other day and i am thoroughly impressed by Sense4.0 in the One X as well as its design and huge HD display, at 4.7inch the HD resolution is a perfect match for powerusers, such a shame it lacks a memory card slot.

ps. I feel bad for LG, the Optimus 4 HD has the same quad-core CPU, 4.7inch IPS display, memory card slot, 2140mAh batt and DivX/Xvid support out the box yet has been ignored:
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_4x_hd_p880-4563.php

Posted by rickster2kuk
Glad they got the LED notification light - so handy if you've not got your phone on you all the time.

Just wish HTC would include a small shutter button - using the screen to take photos is a real pain. Even the iPhone has now modified the volume button as a camera shutter button.

Other than that I think this will transform HTC's recent downward slide.

Posted by SKIBBE
LG needs to create a hype, and work on their SW! all thou the LG Optimus 4X HD P880 is some what cheaper than the One X does not mather, you still buy "a brand" that you trust

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thats very true Skibbe, and after the LG Optimus 3D and 2X failed to meet expectations last year it seems nobody wants anything to do with LG.

Ps. Which will come 1st? Christmas or your One X???

Was in Carphone store today(nothing new there) & a customer brought back his One X to the store complaining of yellow tint issue But I gotta say wow what a beautiful device. The screen is the best HTC have made & it has that printed on the screen look about it. So much nicer than the Xperia S crap. Really impressed with it. But I do hope the yellow tint issue is not gonna start with the HTC One X. Apparently the store said 2 devices had the issue & the customer said the One X got very hot

Finally had a chance to play with one in the O2 store today.

All I can say is... wow! Amazing screen which seems to float on the phone, very, very slick operation and Sense 4 is lovely. Not sure what you are on about Bono about the X S screen being crap because X S screen is also very good, albeit different from One X as it's not AMOLED.

Build quality is very good, and overall I think this wipes the floor against the SG2 and will compete with SGSIII.

All in all a stunning phone.

But...

The size kills it for me. Far too big, it even makes the Galaxy Nexus look small (and that's a big phone), it was difficult to use one handed (as it's too wide for me), therefore if you have big hands, fine, but if you are like me with smaller hands it's a real deal breaker.

If they could have put the One X specs in the One S's size, then this really would be the perfect HTC device (minus that elusive shutter button).
