As I have purchased a new White Xperia Mini today I thought I would get the thread rolling on new photos. Excellent zippy little device with a lovely camera although it is not a huge improvement on before it is still a good camera overall. And this time with more settings.
Bear in mind these were kinda rushed so not my best efforts. Get posting If anyone has one that is SORRY PHOTOS HERE WERE REMOVED SEE MORE FURTHER DOWN

Not bad at all actually but then again SE phones have always had good image sensors if nothing else.

Posted by Bonovox
It is well built, has a lovely feel & design in the hand. Screen is gorgeous & has great sunlight viewing. Camera view finder is very fast in refresh rate. Call quality & signal are rock solid. As for everything else I need a few days to test.

Original
It does NOT say Exmor R anywhere on the box Not that it matters

Love the new shortcut interface with 4 on each corner really handy. And the screen turns off when locked like a tv screen. And although the screen is not right pressed up against the glass like the Arc it has the same excellent sunlight viewing.

Posted by boosook
Not very good pictures... there's a lot of noise reduction and lack of detail. But I guess we cannot ask for more from SE these times.
BTW, you're right: no exmor sensor, for what it's worth (even the exmor sensor is not so good).

There fine on my pc monitor just not zoomed in but I seen worse they are not that bad. They are fine for fun snaps but I got it cos the phone itself I love. I love the new themes too no more blue back ground all the time. And the themes change how message conversations look too in terms of colour.

Posted by hihihans
Pics are good enough. remember, it's a phone. and not an expensive one.

Posted by Bonovox
Very true indeed. Cos the features they fit into this tiny baby is amazing. HD video is not bad with decent sound quality though not the best I ever seen in terms of image. But the phone is soooo fast!! I can slip it into my shirt pocket all that power in your chest

For sure the camera is a lot better than my Optimus Black

Posted by Bonovox
Is it?? Well,it's LG though

Original
This one has fairly decent detail with colour & contrast balance pretty good. The other ones I took were rushed I can do better. This is my new neighbours sports car

The phone is very very fast, the screen is gorgeous but i have to forget that there's a camera
It's really sh*te
Well,it's just a replacement phone while i don't buy an Arc,Neo or the SGS II again...

Nice pictures dude!
How about the video recording?

Posted by Bonovox
I mentioned video recording above. As I say I have not got it just to use as a camera. I did like the older Mini phones but they were not spectacular enough. Now these new ones are great with the right specs. By the way the one with the church I used touch focus & it focused very fast in the middle of the frame. So the grass & trees were not quite so detailed. Anyway, still make anything better than HTC camera wise.

Posted by Bonovox
Anyway, anyone here who has a Mini or Mini Pro then get snapping!! I am sure many of you will appear as time passes.

hey nice photos mate!!

the photos don't look too bad for a phone!! i m really tempted by this phone and the camera is quite an important feature to me for when i go out and want to take a random snap when i dont have a proper camera on me.

the HTC i currently have is absolutely shit...that i actually just stopped taking random snaps!

is there any chance for you to take low light pics!! preferably at higher ISOs....so we can get a better idea about noise / noise reduction in the phone!

also can the ISO actually be manually adjusted in the phone?

Posted by Bonovox
Sorry,no you cannot adjust ISO manually. I forgot to say the camera shutter button is really soft touch which is different. Only thing I think is not so good is the back speaker. It distorts

Posted by kewsvnet
ah rite...thanx for checking!!!

nice photos!!! while the low light ones arent probably the best they aren't too bad for a camera phone...unless my expectations have been lowered too much by the current HTC that i have!

is the phone quick at focus and taking shots or does it actually take a while to do that?

Posted by Bonovox
Yes,like the Arc & Neo it has the very fast touch focus in it's favour.

As long as the new Mini's cam is a better performer than the W995's I"ll be happy How's the video audio pickup?

Posted by 2slow
Taken with auto scene through a not so clean window... Not bad for the size, I have a Sony Arc and this mini pro due to smaller size does feel heavier in the hand too.

This shot was taken today

Not a true comparison but I shot this with the Sony Arc a while ago

Wow is that Ground Zero?? Video recording was fine, but I have read many people on GSM Arena stating there is an odd background noise during video recording on the Pro. By the way them pics on the Mini Pro look a touch better than the Mini

@Bonovox,
That is just a pic of a condo development that is happening across from my building. I have been taking period pics of it as they build it up. It is prety scarey how fast these condo's go up like jig saw puzzles. I am liking the mini pro not bad for it's pint sized form factor. Pretty quick but the screen is small but that is the apeal really. I think I will keep both phones for now as I cannot give up the larger screen either.

I have not tried video recording yet.

Posted by Bonovox
Can I ask,the Mini Pro is the screen right up against the glass on the lcd?? The Mini is not & there a big air gap.

Woah! Beautiful shots Bono

If things go as planned, I'll get mine in a few weeks *cross fingers* Had to source it from HK, since it's rainy season over here it should be a good test of the cam.

Posted by Bonovox
Thanks. Some people say the Mini and Mini Pro cameras are bad. But I see no difference from the older Mini phones. Photos are same file sizes too in other words less than 1mb.

wow ur photos look amazing!! nice work!! i have just ordered my Xperia Mini Pro...and after seeing these pics I feel even happier!

so are there any tips for us to make the most out of the camera....any special settings or modes...or are these all just taken in auto mode?

Posted by Bonovox
Thanks!! Well,I use auto rarely but in sunlight just use the outdoor white balance. Also, this may seem a little odd but alot of people do this. Even distant shots I take in macro mode. It does not make sense but for some reason all shots taken in macro distance or close come out sharper. Try to use a steady hand & just look around you at the available light. Make sure the sun is behind you, clean your lens,I leave capturing mode on normal not scene selector & leave image stabiliser off. Sounds odd but it makes things better. Cannot think of anything else but have a steady hand & look at the light around you.

My brothers car. I do find however that photos look better on my pc & are more grainy when uploaded here By the way my Pro is still solid as a rock build wise after more than a week

Weren't you one of those ?

Posted by Bonovox
Hmm,yes when I had the Mini I did. But I prefered the Pro anyway. But after using it more I realise it can take decent shots if you try

Regarding this pics...

1. Xperia mini pro uses 5 MP Exmor R for mobile ver. ( I never read or heard of such sensor)OR..
2. Xperia mini pro uses SAME SENSOR 8 MP EXMOR R Ver. 1 for mobile.. same as xperia arc, Neo, Ray.. etc BUT IS VIRTUALlY downsized to 5 MP..

Is my point of view. I cannot be sure because I haven't and arc and an xperia mini pro to tear down and look for image sensors, but i believe that have same 8 MP EXMOR Mobile V.1 sensor like big xperia brothers but have virtually downsised to 5 Mp. It is much probably in my opinion..

These guys are putting this thing up like Lego...Scary how fast these condo's go up these days.

Yeah, it is insane how fast these buildings are going up. I think this thing is suppose to be 40+ floors.....

Posted by Bonovox
How long was it ago you posted the last one??

Posted by 2slow
August 12th, a couple of weeks, seems a floor per week is completed

Posted by 2slow
This unit is not bad at all.... It is great for running using Runkeeper program too. I was able to return my GPS watch and just use this device too, due to its compact size.

Posted by idumbakumar
i purchased a mini pro for my friend. and i must say its very fast and smooth than neo and ARC.. no problem with the build, audio quality is very good. screen sunlight legibility is excellent. overall its a wonderful unit. i somewhat hate the Home button. which either could've been softer or a touch button. probably it will strongly compete with HTC wildfire S and definitely win. but wildfire S might already ate some of the market of the mini's segement.
[ This Message was edited by: idumbakumar on 2011-09-07 18:34 ]

Posted by Bonovox
You mean Wildfire S?? The older Wildfire is no competition AT ALL

Posted by idumbakumar
S bono.. I meant the recent wildfire s.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Even thenew Wildfire S isn't competition spec wise, the Mini/Mini Pro are as powerful as a DesireHD/Arc, they are the best value for money Androids available IMO, SE hit the nail on the head with them, I just hope their marketing is as good, they have always sucked at marketing, their new ad with Xperai Arc and Neo is okay but just isn't impactful at all.

Posted by 2slow
I agree, the mini pro is very capable device. I have a Sony Arc that I every day as well and both are very similar in terms of horsepower. But I do think the Mini is still smoother in terms UI for some reason.
