The Three network from today has issued a new pay as you go tariff with 'all you can eat truly unlimited data' like their recent The One Plan for £15 per month out of your top up credit. Three said that this plan is for customers to get the most out of their smartphones without worrying about the cost. See more at: http://www.mobilenewscwp.co.u[....]nlimited-data-offer-on-prepay/

Not a bad deal. I'm currently getting allocated around 1.8 - 2GB before they give me the snip .

All I can eat would be great and when I upgrade for my xperia Arc in a few weeks I'll make sure I get this data package.

I enquired to T Mobile with my contract & they told me that cos I took out the contract with an Android device I get 3 gig per month. T Mobile the best alternative to 3UK for data plus you can use both Three & Orange for roaming. Three are very good imo. But T Mobile do not charge for going over

Hi Guys

I Work for 3UK

The fair usage policy for PAYG is 81GB per month on £15 and £25 top ups

There is NO FAIR USAGE POLICY FOR CONTRACT CUSTOMERS AND INCLUDES TETHERING

Thanks
Paul

81 giga bytes that's enough for anyone. But why 81?? Why the 1??

My god! I'd have to download movies in my sleep to take advantage of that! That's brilliant!

Do you have a date for the Xperia Arc coming to the 3UK yet? You probably don't but there is no harm in asking really.

Three have excellent capacity on their network I hope this does not cripple the network. But Three unlike O2 have the infrastructure

This sounds good but...

I'm paying £6.99/qtr (or less) for 3gb on three.
I've been getting these off ebay and chopping them to fit the iPad.
My guess is that they come from MiFi's as this is the deal you get with those, but the seller sells the sims and the MiFi's separately.
the 3gb expires at the end of the 3 months, or if I use it all up I just buy another.

If my usage grows I may well look at this deal

Posted by Bonovox
Well the ipad using data it should be a good tariff for it and the contract one is truly unlimited so they say but lets not get into unlimited discussion again

Posted by xperia_man
@ goldenface the arc is the 1st April at the moment

@ massuer just get the one plan on a12 month sim then put in iPad and voilla you have all you can eat

Posted by masseur
at present I am using about 1gb a month so my way makes it no more than £28/year.
unless I'm very much mistaken, the one plan would cost me £180? (£15x12)

Posted by fbloise
That one plan is far better for just tethering than any other modem plans...

might get that one for my tethering needs!

With 81GB and the WiFi hotspot feature in Android 2.3 it will prove to be quite useful. You can hook up your laptop, other mobiles, your TV etc.

Sounds like going to a buffet restaurant with all you can eat data

Posted by goldenface

I'm currently paying 15GB for £15 for mobile broadband which simply won't be required with the above data tariff.

I tell ya what recently in my area the 3UK network went down for a day with poor connection which is rare in my experience with them. Anyway, since it's back up & running the networks speeds have shot up massively it is super fast now I tell ya hats off to Three they really are pushing out these network upgrades It took less than one minute to download a 40mb file I was shocked!!!!!!!!!

Yep same here, got a text week or so back saying may be bad signal on the Thursday due to upgrade, kin ell back to what it used to be, I can now watch BBC iPlayer with no stuttering, fast downloads.

Think I will stay with em even after the 1p text delivery rip off.

Posted by Bonovox
Yeah it's truly now turning into Broadband. Even around tea time after 6pm when netwrks seem very busy things like You Tube buffer really fast now too Three really are making good progress & delivering what they promised. I did get one of the new HSPA+ dongles

How do you use iPlayer using the mobile network and not wifi?

In terms of this thread, giffgaff is far better value, as you can get the £10 goody bag, which gives you unlimited data, unlimited texts and 250 minutes. Plus there is a £5 goody bag coming soon proving only unlimited data! So awesome

You can't use iplayer on 02, giffgaff, Tmobile, they fail to connect you, think it's only 3 and Voda that let you stream iplayer correctly, if at all.

It's all well and good going on about giffgaff but there are limitations.

This is exaactly why I went with 3 after many years with 02 and even more with Tmobile, started on Tmobile when it was Mercury 121.

EDIT: I pay £25 a month (12 Month Contract) and I get 2000 any network minutes, 5000 3 to 3 minutes, 5000 texts and all you can eat data, plus I can tether my PC to the phone without them complaining.

I use T Mobile for my phone contract but I never bother using iplayer. I use that on my 3UK dongle.

Posted by goldenface
I don't think it can ever beat fix line broadband as the Ping times are still really high so it would be useless for online gaming but I regularly get over 5Meg on my mobile phone which is good enough for streaming.

Posted by Bonovox
Well no it won't beat fixed line but it's improving. Today with my high speed dongle I downloaded over 200mb worth of PC updates & other stuff & it all downloaded within less than ten mins & that's good for a wireless network with over 200mb.

Posted by Bonovox
Last night whilst downloading Windows Updates my new high speed dongle reached a dizzy height of 11,000kbps

Posted by Bonovox
Bit blurry but this was my speed today seems very fast now

Posted by Bonovox
This dongle if you want great speeds on 3G then get one!! It truly has been amazing!! I get an average of over 4,000kbps but have reached just over 11,000kbps but last night it went to 9,000 to 10,000kbps & it did not take long to download a 2 gig file. Absolutely fantastic & it's been consistent too although the slowest I have got was about 798kbps But even busy times seems not to be trouble now with this dongle. It is now on a promotion for 35 quid in 3UK stores was 69 quid.

Excuse the dust I bloody dusted before I took this shot too.

Posted by goldenface
That is blistering for mobile broadband. Most I've had is around 5 or 6.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes and the modem runs hot when in use. EDIT: I had to re-install my Neo's firmware today via SEUS cos when charger was plugged in the screen became unresponsive. I started the download from SEUS @ 18.24 & the 167.2mb downloaded over the Three network by 18:30!! Very impressive!!

I just bought an iPad 2 on 3 and after a few days wifi use took it to work and used the 3G sim. I was in the Olympic park in Stratford and the signal was excellent very quick for browsing emails etc..... My iPhone 4 is on O2 and the performance of the 3 has seriously made me think about leaving O2

Yes,Three was the network that everyone thought would fail & go under but they have proved everyone wrong. Look at it this way they are future proof being a 3G only network(mostly). But yeah speeds are excellent & when my contract ends I may go over cos I like the truly unlimited internet. But saying this I am with T Mobile whom are excellent but not quite as fast. But T Mobile are also doing the truly unlimited data now. But I wonder if all other networks will follow suit in direct competition?? O2 or Opoo as I call them they moved away from truly unlimited internet. But lets not go down that argument route again about UNLIMITED

That's the reason I left OPoo lol.

When I started my contract on OPoo it was unlimited, when they offered me an upgrade it was 500 meg a month, hows that an upgrade ???

Posted by Bonovox
Oh dear. They don't have the capacity on their network I don't think Opoo
