Great news for me and my DHD

Posted by volvoman
Looking forward to the update, as long as there are no issues like with the nexus s

Great for Desire but for Incredible S its inexplicable to have to wait so long

Posted by strauts
can't wait to get it, but I have only 2.2 how can I get 2.2.1 and what improvements does it do?

Posted by titus1

Yeah its excellent that the Desire will be getting 2.3 Gingerbread when devices like the X10 that came out the same time have lost all manufactuer support.

I've been looking at a few ROMs myself on xda for the DHD like Revolution HD which offers even better all round performance enhancements however won't be long until we get the official update

Don't be too hard on SE regarding the X10's fate
Anyways, it was their first take on Android OS and they haven't promise heaven and earth. At least the new Xperia family's already clad on Gingerbread. And I was really considering on getting either the Neo or Pro.

Why not? if its the first, then it should be supported well, cuz they are the one's supporting SE. Look at HTC, they released the world's first android phone, htc dream in 2008 with android 1.0. And that has 1.6. Which is 3 versions later. What did SE do with x10? Release 1.6 when 2.1 was getting old, and then update to 2.1 .

I would not mind the late update, but with 2.1 as the last update has dissapointed me. I want to buy their new xperia play or arc, but i am affraid of being with se after what they have done.

Thats great for you HTC owners!

but about the X10i
well if it's not broken then it doesn't need such a fix does it

as I forementioned there was I didn't think the x10i needed such a update it works

Got the Swedish 2.3 upgrade already on Tuesday morning at work.
Needed only to press OK twice for download the 100+ MB package and then install it. All whilst I was minded my work.

Non of my settings or apps were changed.

Except for more contrast and different colours and buttons, there is no real increase in speed.
More like a fresh Windows install on a PC;)

16th May according to GSM Arena

A photo of my DHD with 2.3 or more precisely version 2.3.3 (swedish)
It was available for download the 11 may, downloaded and installed it.

The photo was taken with the X10 Mini (as mine DHD is unrooted and can't use those screenshot apps on the Android Market)

Im no really heavy user of YouTube but tried a couple of HQ videos, they played as they were supposed to.

Having some SD-res .avi and .mkv's, played with the Vital Player (from the Market). They also played with no lag at all but I had no problems playing them before the upgrade either.

Hopes you get the upgrade this Monday

Hi
Did you get the UK 2.3.3 upgrade today, Toney?

Posted by Bonovox
When is the original Desire getting Gingerbread update?? I recently bought one for £250

Posted by Bonovox
Should that ne spelt as clever not cleaver. I only know how to debrand or update not root. I would never try. It's nice though that HTC are one of the very few that supports FOTA updates.

I'm sorry but I'm in a funny mood this afternoon but I don't get this bit?

@Bono
It seems like Toney already got the Official UK upgrade from HTC, so you should have it too.
HTC seems to have some kind of schedule where some is bound to get it first and others getting it last.

Click that button where you have all those app icons, there is one icon for Settings.
In settings, scroll down to the one saying something like "about the phone" click that icon.
The new screen there is (on my DHD) a menu text (again something like) Firmware upgrade.
In Firmware upgrade you need to have the scheduled search for upgrade ticked in order to get informed when the 100+MB 2.3.3 upgrade is available for you.

Or you can just press the Search Now button.

Sorry my DHD is in all swedish so the english menu names are my guesswork

As you already having had experience with Android (the SE Arc) I think you will wring it out by yourself anyhow

This Tuesday morning I found there was an update sign on my HTC Desire HD.
It was the Android 2.3.5(?.x?) and Sense 3(.x?) upgrade that had come to the DHD.

Let the phone update Over-The-Air whilst I brewed coffee and made some sandwiches at 06:00, the upgrade took less 15 mins, and only twice did I had to mind it by accepting download and install.

Sense have a new look (the lock sceen)

At the Last update (Android 2.3.4) some people didn't believe me when I said the udate had arrived
so I post his screen capture, as a proof

Nice
Improved performance and battery time ?

Posted by bl-gr-n
@rikken
Improved performance: The phone have been much snappier and all round faster. Hopes it don't get slower by time like MS Windows.

Battery time: I had charged the battery over night and did this big file download and installing, used the phone normally during the day: Surfing, a couple of phone calls, 5 sms sent/received, still had lot of juice left in the battery.

Still the battery will not last a workday, if playing streamed music from the internet (Spotify) with A2DP-bluetooth transfer. though I haven't tested it yet.

Darn! It's 1:30 and I have to get up at 5:30, damn these sleepless nights...

Sorry, sorry
Of course DHD didn't get the 2.3.4.x.
The previous one was the 2.3.3, that came after the original 2.2.x.

Think the new (2011) SE Andoids that have 2.3.4 from factory.

I am quite delighted with upgrade. Thanks HTC!
