I recently updated my X2, and now I got this FW: R1AA097
The phone is much quicker now, but what's strange is that my last FW was R3A...(somting)
Can X2 owners please post their FW-versions here?

I have R1AA094. This is an old model from late November. Never updated

R1AA097 here

R1AA097 is mine as well.
By the way - can anyone explain how do you update firmware ? I didn't find such function in the menu so far (obviously I am new to smartphones at all)

In order to update the firmware you have to head over to http://www.sonyericsson.com/c[....]teservice/xperiax2?cc=gb&lc=en
Here you will find the Sony Ericsson Update software, simply run the program after installation and it will check if your phone is up to date, and if there is a newer firmware version then it will install it. However at the moment R1AA097 is the most recent version, we should have a new one some time in March

I talked yesterday with the SE Xperia support, and they said that there will be come an major update during this week (week 7).

I really hope that this update fill fix all of the annoying issues i have stumbled into!
* Sloooooooow device
* Daily freezig/crashing of windows
* Sound profiles (i have not found anything that would let me select different sound-options)
* An alarmclock that would be useful for waking up in the morning!! This crap that's now there is not worth shit.. It's too silent to hear, it has no snooze options and it apparently crashes my phone too...
*
* etc. etc. (i have not made a list, but i find constantly new issues...)

The phone in itself (physical layout, keyborad etc.) is great! I can't complain! It's just what i have been looking for. What i honestly don't understand is that how could someone be so stupid to decide to put windows in a mobile phone??!! That's one of the most idiotic decision ever made by anyone.. I would have thought that that people are used to crashing windows-desktops, but adding that feature to a mobile phone was pure dumbness!

I really hope that this update will bring some peace into my life. If not, then I hope that there would be a some sort of community that we could tie together in porting Google Andrdoid to the Sony Ericsson Experia X2!

Well, my device isn't that slow. It's faster then my X1 in many situations. Almost no crashes any more. My alarm clock is loud and it has an snooze function. Just lock your device and you got the snooze option. Set the alarm to max, and it would be loud.

I wonder where i can set the alarm-volume to max..? I found just two volume-levels: for the earpiece, and the other one as ringing-volume (there are two sliders next to each other). I want to set the ringing-volume on minimum, but the alarm volume to maximum.. For me this seems to be a limitation in Windows.....

My mistake. I've got the spb time installed, and there you can adjust the alarm volume. But the snooze function should work without the spb time instlled.

I figured out that the snooze did not always work. It looks to me that the alarm is crashing my phone (it's set to go off every weekdays at 08:00). And indeed, i think that this morning the alarm crashed again my phone. Luckily I had a backup-alarm that went off 08:15! When I checked the X2, the screen was black, and i did not get any indications that the phone was on... The solution was to disconnect the battery, and start the phone again... This crash re-sets the ringsignal to the annoying Ring01-WindowsPhone ringsignal...

Again, i can't avoid repeting myself: I really can't understand WHY ON EARTH Windows is put into a phone... That's honestly one of the most idiotic moves ever done by a mobile-phone manufacturer...!

Why? It's the best OS for work and advanced functionality.
To be honest, fcuk profiles.

What you can do with WM is great reward.

Yes, I've fallen in love with Windows Mobile. It my take some time to understand, but when you do; nothing compares to it. It's just brilliant, and how you can customise it, is just awesome.

New update suposedly available now:
http://xperiancers.com/2010/0[....]at-www-sonyericsson-comupdate/

"Hello everyone

I wanted to share that we have posted an X2 application update on the regular Sony Ericsson Update site at www.sonyericsson.com/update – this is not the full MR1 software release I mentioned in a previous post but a .cab file that will add stability and improved performance throughout the device. The .cab provides updates to many applications inside X2, several are behind the scenes but make sure to check out the new and improved four-tab dialer.

We really wanted to get some high-quality fixes in your hands as quickly as possible.

Please stay tuned for our first full MR1 software upgrade coming next month. That’s it for now. Aaron
"

I will try this tonight...

I have now updated my X2 with the 3,5mb .Cab file on SE site

The update takes approximately 10 minutes and I had to reinstall my programs that is running from the storage card - nothing is lost. I have not noticed any difference yet

After the update my unitinformation is:
Programversion (still) R1AA097
Modificationversion R16A
Content Version PA2
Programversion for Radio 6.5.60221

Time to play...

Posted by amdx2
this is a awesome phone, like other users say it just needs time to get use to it then its all sweet and go... i'm loving it... yeah SE keep the update coming.. speed it up even more.....

Posted by bob2k4
well i've installed the update and i'm more disapointed than i was before!

for one the new dialer looses the 'smart dial' abilities of the old one

and they have still failed to fix the notification errors!

Posted by iopy
look one more tim, the smart dialer are still present on my device

Posted by amdx2

Might just be me then, but I can't seam to find it.

Found the phone is generally a lot more stable right now with this new update.

However, have found both before and after the update that both my tomtom and co-pilot won't pick up the gps unless using gps gate. And the new update causes gps gate to crash every half hour or so.

Anyone else's sat nav progs running ok?

After entering phone mode, press the "phone book" symbol, and then press the top of your screen, where you can enter text, then I think you find what your seeking?

It's not a smart dial.

Smart dial means you just enter a first and second letter/number in
phone dialer and it automatically suggests you names to dial.

But that is exactly what my Xperia X2 does. If you're using the tilewave panel, just hit the phone book icon, and then press the numeric keypad that pops up on the screen. You can enter as many letters, ore numbers you want, and the phone will suggest as you press.

Okay, I still don't have X2.
Anyway I was referring to DialPad, not panel.

Also the new .cab update from SE changes the dialer and
I saw on the video how it works.

It does the same ting when you enter via dial-pad, but there you have to go to the phone book to activate the smart dial.
