I've been in a similar situation: when traveling abroad, the H icon appears, but within my home network coverage, only the 3G icon appears. Performing speed tests, I've discovered that I am in fact under HSDPA coverage (between 500 and 1300 kbps). Is the icon network-dependent? I mean, when there is HSDPA signal, is it up to the carrier whether the phone displays the H or the 3G icon?
