There are plenty of posts with X1 bashing/complaints on this board. It though it would be a good idea to focus one thread on constructive criticisms of the X1 and WM6.1. This is in hope that some SE rep may actually be checking out this forum every now and then. Maybe we could get some of this stuff fixed in future updates or models.

1) All buttons should have nubs on them (like the top two X keys). It is hard pressing the other ones with confidence.

2) Typing keys should have had even more arch to them. It is hard to type with confidence because it is hard to feel the keys.

3) Selecting a panel gives a tactile feedback (delayed), but nowhere else in the OS do you get this. It should be comprehensive.

4) Keys do not light up until I press them (by then, I've already pressed the wrong one).

5) Battery cover is not robust enough.

6) Keyboard is hard to read in daylight when lit (I have the Silver)

7) Paltry selection of panels. There should have been many more.

8 ) WM needs to be finger friendly throughout. The stylus should be used as an option, not a requirement.

1. TF3D should be the default system, really. I've gotten bored of the panels.

2. A wider selection of panels is required.

3. The external speaker could be a bit stronger. I'm not asking it to match the output of my N95-2, but I think it's lower than average.

4. Dual status LEDs on either side would be nice a la the ones on the T68 and P900.

I expected this thread to be a lot larger by now.

Good job

ok, well there's only one thing I'd change... drop the keyboard as I just don't use it that much anymore

^^^ Not a text'er, huh?

Posted by masseur
strangely, I've become quite a texter on the iPhone, but on the X1 its still mostly emails, but I still prefer the virtual keyboard such as found on the diamond, but I still heavily use caligrapher, which is by far the best natural handwriting tool and I've been using it since not long after it became available many years ago

Looks interesting. I'm already quite satisfied with the built-in WinMo transcriber. I'll download the Calligrapher demo and try it out.

go for it... if you ever used an iphone and had it translate your keystrokes from "askdgfhgjhkhjlfjk" to "I'm on my way home" then you'll appreciate how well transcriber converts my scrawl to proper readable text

How does Calligrapher compare to the built-in Transcriber?

Posted by masseur
well, try it for yourself but transcriber is good but caligrapher is so much better, especially after a liquid night out when you really want to get the message across correctly

Hi masseur, maybe you should have gotten a Touch HD instead. Before I got my X1 I tested both and I got what I got because of the hardware keys.
