It looks like the LCD was damaged due to pressure on it. You might want to look for an OEM LCD replacement or even a used P990, as the price is sometimes lower than a new LCD.

yes, i shall do that. im not facing big problems, but sometimes the screen doesnt respond correctly.

I'm amazed the police found your phone back, that wouldn't happen here in London, +1 for Dominican police.
As for the LCD if you can replace it, replace it, or get a 2nd hand phone to use. Oh, what happened to the thieves?
