I just need to make sure. I have a fresh installation of Windws upcoming today or tomorrow, and I'd like to know just what exactly I need to install to ensure I can connect my W800 with my PC using Bluetooth, but also the cable. It's a bit confusing because there's the SE Suite with various tools, then there are SE USB Drivers and also SE UPDATE USB Drivers.. and the Modem Scripts...
I intend to use my W800 with MyPhoneExplorer and also with FMA, and of course I'd like to be able to update firmware.

PC Suite comes with W800 package has drivers for connecting your W800 to your PC thru bluetooth, USB Cable or IrDA. You have to install all the drivers and install and run the Sony Ericsson File Manager Software in order your W800 can connect to your PC. Choose your connection: if you'd like to use USB Cable, then plug the cable tou your USB port. If you choose bluetooth then activate bluetooth on your phone, also if you choose infrared (I suggest USB Cable for faster connection).

For MyPhoneExplorer, the connection can be made thru all connection types (infrared, bluetooth, cable) but you have to indicate the connection port manually.
For FMA, AFAIK only infrared connection will work.

If I install the PC Suite, do I also have to install any of the separate USB drivers/USB UPDATE Drivers? Or is all that included in the PC Suite? Also, is PC Suite REQUIRED for anything? Can I make things work by just installing the drivers, for example, and not PC Suite?
And is SE Folder Manager or whatever you called it a separate application, or ist hat part of PCSuite?
And FMA has been around for a few years now.. and it has always supported IRDA, BT and USB connections, just so you know.

If you install the PC Suite, it will install Sony Ericsson File Manager, Sync Station, Mobile Networking Wizard, Image Editor and MMS Home Studio. In order to install all the drivers (exclude Update Service Driver), you have to connect your phone with your PC thru any connection you want. For example, if you connect your phone with your PC using USB cable, your PC will recognize any hardware changes and ask you to install the driver. When the Hardware Wizard appears, choose "No, Not this Time" when ask to connect to Windows Update, Next, then "Install from a list or specific location (Advance)", Next, then "Browse" and go to the CDROM folder containing the PC Suite CD. Your PC will install the drivers as well as the modem drivers.
For Update Service Driver, you can find the driver by downloading it from SE Website. Follow the manual/guide provided by this website.
I guess you have to install SE PC Suite anyway.

I still have questions, however. You are referring to the PC Suite CD. I don't use any CDs. Everything I install is from the web. I just downloaded the PC Suite from SE's website.. now, when I connect my phone and it asks for drivers, can I point Windows to the PC Suite install directory? Will that install the right drivers?
While I'm at it.. is Disc2Phone the best way to transfer music to the phone, or do you recommend something else? I don't see anything wrong with Disc2Phone myself, I'm just wondering.

I find Disk2phone a little slow at transfering files, but it does a good job of convertinf WMA into MP3 so my k750 can play them. The Gracenote lookup is nice too
Just draging and droping the files into the Music or MP3folder on the mem card whilst in the phone works fastest for transfering files

Alright.. thanks! Do I have to drop the files on the phone in their original folder structure? I mean, can I just drop "Jack Johnson - Brushfire Fairytales" on the phone or do I have to just take the songs from within that folder and drop them over, or does that not matter at all? I'd just like to avoid confusing the phone about what albums are and what individual songs are. Come to think of it, I only have whole albums. It's been a long time since I've had invididual songs all by themselves in my MP3 collection..
