Posted by spartan117
Guys and Girls,

I don't know whether this TRICK has been posted before (I didn't see anything using the SEARCH engine)

I dont know whether I am allowed to post this, but, WHAT THE HELL

So here it is:

You need a PC or a Laptop and the required connectivity tools ,ie.,
Serial/USB cable OR Infrared Device OR Bluetooth dongle

1) Activate Airtel Live! ( It's FREE so no probs)

2) Create TWO Airtel gprs data accounts (yep TWO) and select the
FIRST as the active profile.

3) Connect your mobile to the PC (or Laptop) and install the driver for
your mobile's modem.

4) Create a new dial-up connection using the NEW CONNECTION
WIZARD as follows

Connecting Device : Your mobile's modem
ISP Name : Airtel (or anything you like)
Phone Number : *99***2#
Username and Password : blank

5) Configure your browser and download manager to use the proxy
100.1.200.99 and port 8080.( My advice is to use Opera since you
can browse both wap and regular websites)

6) Connect to the dial-up account. You will be connected at 115.2
kbps (but remember, that is a bad joke).

7) Pick up your mobile and try to access any site. You will get "Access
Denied..."(except for Airtel Live!). IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Keep the mobile down.

8 ) On the PC ( or Laptop) open your browser, enter any address ,
press ENTER and.......WAIT

9) After a few seconds the page will start to load and you have the
WHOLE internet at your disposal.

10) Thank Spartan117

This method is working for me using my beloved F500i. I have downloaded more than 350 MB of stuff and I have not been charged
a single paisa.The download speeds are decent.

If you have any problems please feel free to contact me, I will be glad to help you
If you have problems with P2P applications contact me.

And what sort of speeds do you get when you're talking of P2P connections?

Posted by spartan117
Since we have to tunnel our way through , the speeds are usually pathetic. If you are lucky you get a fast proxy. I got a max of around 3.2 KB once using Emule.

Posted by whizkidd
Whats the apn? Should we stick to airtelwap.com?

Posted by blu_6779
will tunnelling work with the mms profile?

Posted by spartan117
I am in Chennai. Here are my settings

Under DATA COMM
~~~~~~~~~~~~
APN : airtelfun.com
USERNAME : blank
PASSWORD : blank
PASS REQ : OFF
ALLOW CALLS : AUTOMATIC
IPADDRESS :
DNSADDRESS :
DATA COMP : OFF
HEADER COMP : OFF
Under INTERNET PROFILES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

INTERNET MODE : HTTP or WAP (both worked for me)

USE PROXY : YES

IP ADDRESS : 100.1.200.99

PORT : 8080

USERNAME :

PASSWORD :

Hope this helps

By the way I would advice you to delete your old settings,restart the phone and create new accounts.

Posted by whizkidd
Hmmm....i've used the live settings for browsing sites (html included) on the phone... But, since gprs is cheap here i've never bothered to try the free wap trick on pc! I'll try this later...

Tunnelling requires atleast one open port so I guess it should work.

Guys if this trick worked for you please reply here.

Sorry my dear friend,
As the title suggests this is for Airtel India.

But why don't you try this trick using your service provider's settings and see whether it works

I have airtel postpaid in TN circle..I've put all the settings..but when i try to open a site using firefox..it says "Access denied"..pls help

Posted by Pradhika
So it is lol. Chennai has recently been flooded. And so naturally frogs have caught cold. Everything is free there. Airtel wap is already free there. Dont worry. They will soon start charging left and right. Till then good luck.

Did you follow all the steps correctly ?
I think you forgot STEP 7.
If not please let me know.

Posted by spartan117
Pradhika, activating Airtel Live! is free. But you can access only Airtel's wapsite.If you download anything from it you get charged.

I wouldn't call that FREE

Posted by Pradhika
Dear Spartan, I talk of bulls and you talk about milk. The categories are free or paid browsing and free or paid downloading. I meant browsing charges for all the sites and not just atel live.

Dear Pradhika,

Sorry for being so blunt. Let me explain clearly.

Here in chennai we have Full GPRS and Airtel Live!

With full GPRS you can browse ANY site . Basically you can use it as a regular internet connection. But it COSTS you.

With Airtel Live! (which you can ACTIVATE freely by calling customer care) . You are allowed to access ONLY the Airtel Live! wapsite for FREE and the downloads (from this site) COST you.

If you try to access ANY OTHER site you get an "Access Denied..." message.

My method allows you to circumvent this and allows you to browse and download from ALL sites (WAP and regular) ON YOUR PC for FREE.

By the way , the CAPS are just to highlight and I am not yelling at you

Take care

Do we have to do step 7 everytime we connect thru pc??

Posted by spartan117
YES. It is the MOST important step in the whole process.

What I do is , once the connection is made I press the Vodafone Live! button on my phone and get a "Access denied.." messsage. I simply keep the phone down and start using the pc

Posted by saurabh2207
I'm using Mobile office from last two years without paying any rent.So i need no tricks.But i have my own trick which i will use when my GPRS get closed.

Posted by mrao
good for you whatcha doin in this thread then??

Posted by AlanDS
This trick isn't working on my Nokia 6600. My handset doesn't respond to the number *99***2#. It only responds to either *99***1# or *99#

Posted by mrao
Have you created 2 data accounts?

Posted by AlanDS
Iam already a subscriber of Airtel Online and Airtel Live. I have 2 data accounts. One is "Airtel Online" and another one is "Airtel Live". So what should I do? Do I have to create duplicate account of Airtel Online? Please guide me.

Posted by spartan117
Alan, you have to have TWO Airtel Live! data accounts on your mobile. Please read the steps carefully.

The mobile should use the FIRST account and the PC should dial to the SECOND account.

As for your Nokia not dialling other IDs, I think you can use the 'Extra Initialization Commands' to dial the second account.

Dear spartan117,
Thanks for the Reply and Information.
I have followed all the steps, but Iam not able to dial to the second account(i.e *99***2# is not working). My current modem initialization string is
Code:
AT+CBST=0,0,1;+CHSN=6,0,0,0;+CGDCONT=,,"airtelwap.com"<cr>

.Does anyone have a initialization code so that I can dial to the second gprs account in Nokia 6600.

The string you should use is AT+CBST=0,0,1;+CHSN=6,0,0,0;+CGDCONT=2,,"airtelwap.com"
if you want to dial the second CID. I think
Try it and reply.

I tried but no results. Whenever I try to change the initialization string, I get "Error 692: There was a hardware failure in Modem". Please help......

Copy the old string value somewhere and try this
AT+CGDCONT=2,”IP”,”airtelwap.com”

actully i m new here
and i m using the settings to surf
though not exactly as said but some how....
i hav connected the pc with phone with the exact configuration,but access denied to server shows up...after lots of tries to connect and then disconnect the airtel server generally gives up and proxy allows all sites through airtel live settings......speed is sometimes terible and sometimes(generally in night upto 8Kbs) with just nokia pc suit6.6 and AT+CGDCONT=,,"airtelfun.com"<cr>

but it is quite time consuming coz this is hit n trial needs patience
so i need some help to get all site access in one try(i unerstood that from what spatan said)

1.wat is TWO Airtel gprs data accounts..i mean how to create them (they r 2 b in phone or airtel server) r they just 2 settings?

2.when i try to connect from my nokia hand set to any site while connected with my pc,then the gprs data connection with pc gets disconnected

and happy new year frends

Hi decent,

The TWO identical AirtelLive settings should be in the phone.

(b4 i hav used my brothers sim to download setting for his post paid .
with those settings i can open only airtel live page with my prepaid)
i hav actually 3 same settings for the connection in my phone
but after making gprs data connection with pc if i try 2 access net from my phone the gprs data connection with pc needs to be disconnected

any suggestions

Are you sure that the mobile and PC are using two DIFFERENT accounts?
On the mobile select the first account and on the PC enter the following as Extra initialization command:

+cgdcont=2, "IP", "airtelfun.com"

Try it and see if it works.

If you can PM me the complete navigation interface info
(ie. Main menu-->Settings-->Connectivity-->.....)
I can give you a personalized method.

By the way , can you guide those users with NOKIAs. How did you make the PC dial the second account ?

Hi rahul,

I am extremely sorry. The initialization command was wrong

The correct one is

at+cgdcont=2,"IP","airtelfun.com"

(remember there are no spaces between anything).

This works with my Sony Ericsson F500i.Try it and see if it works.
