First SonyEricsson phone released
2 January 2002 The first phone released under the brand name SonyEricsson is now available to Japanese consumers. The SonyEricsson C1002S phone is probably designed and produced by Sony alone, but it is release under the new brand SonyEricsson. The phone has a 65.536 colour display with 120x160 pixels resolution. And like many of Nokia's phones, you are able to change covers to fit your mood.
The phone is equipped with a text input method similar to the T9. Sony calls this system for POBox. It will bring up a selection of possible words after the user type in the first few characters of a word, allowing sentences to be written with minimum key operation. The system can also learn frequently typed words, making for smoother text input, while a similar function is also available for modern words. Typing 'Sta', for example, will produce options such as 'Starbucks'.
It is the Japanese operator KDDI Corp. and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company that released the C1002S for their au wireless service.
