Hi, does anyone know how i can get my handset to allow me to use texted/bluetoothed ringtones as ringtones? At the moment when i select `use`then the next screen gives the `set as ringtone` option, this option is not highlighted.
When i downloaded a ringtone from voda live, the handset allowed it 2 be used as ringtone. I understand the copyright issues etc., but how do i get my phone to accept the tones. I have friends with same handset and they don`t have this prob.
Can any of u bright people out there suggest a fix?
regards

My first suggestion to you would be to take it to your local SE service center, and to tell then that you'd like your phone's software updated. They should be able to do this with no charge to you. If you're more of a hands-on type of guy, then here's some light reading for you:

There's nothing wrong with the phone. It's Vodafone's firmware. They blocked mp3s from being set as the ringtone. I don't know if it was ever sorted out in a newer edition of the firmware but if it hasn't, you can debrand the phone. |

Thanks KrisUK, appreciate your help.... 1 question.. is the debranding as simple as unblocking and do you know any companies that do this?
Cheers

All you need to do is use the SE DRM software to allow the ringtones to be used.
Theres a thread somewhere on Esato on how to use it. Use the search - i cant right now (on a PPC).

stand back- i got it covered
a few months ago, i was exactly like you
ok- vodafone only let you use mp3's downloaded from there site as ringtones, you need a firmware upgrade to debrand so the phone is no longer vodafone.firmware is like what ur computer runs on (95,98,ME,Xp etc) but it is displayed more complicated (e.g r2AE003)
you can do this by taking it to a carphone warehouse and they will do it free within a year of purchasing the phone, but all your data may be deleted
