Finally I'm leaving T-Mobile, and am set on a K750i - my questions is I'm looking to get an unbranded/unlocked handset, will my best bet be to purchase an online tariff from 02 (seems like I get more options on minutes/texts) or to go into my local CPW and get it from them?

*apologies if I'm in the wrong forum

Apparently from CPW you'd get an unbranded handset - whether thats true or not though you'd only know by the time you get the phone.

From O2 online, you'd get a branded handset (very likely) and a better deal on your tariff.

CPW do not offer O2 online tariffs.

Its personal choice.

Sorry, they give you an unbranded K750i with O2 sim when bought on o2. Im not sure, i think they just think that the firmware is so similair, they dont need to get the O2 phones in. Orange phones and Vodafone phones are branded in a unique and bad way, i.e. voda disable features and orange redo menus but O2 just keep almost everything. I have no idea, but the guy and the girl the next day BOTH said that they dont supply branded phones [addsig]

Well, i wouldnt believe everything CPW staff tell you.

CPW staff once told me (when i was playing the "dumb customer") that 6670 was a higher spec phone than the 3G 6630.

Wrong fella, very very wrong !

No you dont understand, they had them ready. I saw the guys o2 phone and the girls o2 phone (both K750is ) and they were both unbranded. This isnt about specs i could actually see the phone, with an o2 sim card separate. One thing is for sure, they defenitely sell unbranded o2 k750is on payg. Not sure about anything else.

PM dave_uk, he works at CPW. [addsig]

Thanks for the replies. How bad is the branding on 02 phones? T-Mobile is shockingly awful, I'm not to bothered if it doesn't cripple features.

The reason to purchase 02 online is that I'd get 500 txts, compared to 50 with CPW.

Its a toughy

*I asked in CPW yesterday and they stated they don't sell branded phones? I'll get them to catagorically confirm this before I part with any cold hard.

@ vanquish - maybe that day CPW had run out of O2 branded handsets, and so not wanting to lose custom to The Link, simply gave them unbranded phones with a O2 sim to go with it ?

O2 branding is limited to the startup and shutdown screens and a icon on the menu to go to O2 wap site. They are also unlocked so you can use any sim in them.

o2 don't hardly brand their sony ericsson phones at all. The only difference will be that there will be an o2 start up and shut down animation and an o2 theme (all of which can be changed). i recommend calling into your o2 store and ordering an online k750i deal with them + they are now giving away free sony ericsson bluetooth headset with it. Also check out the topic whats the best o2 contract deal you've ever seen, and look forward to your next upgrade!. Hope this helps

No, i somehow dont see that happening. I can assure you the PAYG O2 phones at the CPW are unbranded unless they have decided since then. I always visit a phone shop when im in town and i visited the cpw about 5 times since the K750's release and they all say the same thing, unbranded. [addsig]

If you use a O2 store then you cant have the online tariffs. They are available online only, thats why they call the tarfiffs online.
