Hi people, been lookin for soem help on this but cant seem to find any.
Ok i got the DSS-25 and a k700, intsalled the PC suite that came on the cd with the phone and tried to link them up with no luck. So i downloaded the new software from the SE website
None of the features seem to connect to my phone.
I'm run XP Pro SP2 and Norton Internet Security.
All i want to do is get my photos off my phone, update the firmware and send some mp3's to the phone.
Any help would be appreciated. |

You might need to get drivers for the dss-25 (which aren't on the cd, there's a link on the SE K700i update service page

Well i thought it was all sorted last night, even sync'd and ran the SE update.
But i switched the PC on this morning and it failed to connect. Any ideas.
How long does it normally take to send mp3's to your phone anyway? and what software do you use?

@pdub
I realise there is a link above confirming this but I will mention it anyways.....
I couldn't connect to the DSS-25 I had borrowed and found that I had to go into device manager and see what com port the sync unit was connected to, then select the correct one in the SE program.
As for mp3, I use a belkin bt dongle (not a lot of help if you only have a cable) which comes with it's own software.
Not really used the SE software much, and I don't have a sync station/cable to hand but it seems the se programs are cable based so I haven't had much luck with them since passing the sync station back, there maybe a setting in there for me to change but as the bt software works so good I haven't bothered to look. I would only consider having a sync station for updating firmware and syncronising with outlook. Other than that in my opinion bluetooth is a no fuss sollution to transfreing stuff and I believe faster too. Approx £13-20 for a 10-100 metre range.
I've found that reducing the quality of the mp3's for ringtones, seems to work quite well, an average track compressed at say 192kb would be around 3.5 to 4 megs, you can reduce this size by compressing at around 64kb (fm quality) or even a little less and reduce the size of the file to around 1.3 megs for 64kb which will also speed up download time from your pc to phone.
128kb upwards is cd quality which all my 'proper' music is compressed at but as I said for ringtones (if that's what you want the music on for)the K700 external mono speaker works great with the reduced quality.
Just in case you have any problems when you get to do the firmware update, I had to turn my Norton Firewall off. I ran spybot, addaware etc afterwards and found nothing so don't panic if you have to turn it off.

have you tried the cable first on the pc that reads the disc? are you using an operating system that is compatible to the cable?
you should check all of this...
i have had a t610 and now i have a k700i also... everything works fine...
make sure to test the cable...

as for how long it takes for MP3's to be transfered to the phone...well i have uploaded a lot of Ringtone into my K700i with the DSS-20 and a 30 second MP3 ringtone takes about 1min to upload...maybe a lil less. Its slow. Blue-tooth and Infa-Red is considerably faster, however you cannot update your phone with either of those...only the DSS-20/25. So for me..it doesnt bother me. I uploaded a full 4min long MP3 to my phone...took about 8min or so. I just walked away or did something else.
It goes by a lot faster if ur not just starring at it.
