T630 no longer recognises/connects with Mac thru Bluetooth |

Hi there,
I purchased the T630 a few months ago and until recently it has been working without a glitch. I paired it succesfully with my Powebook G4 using the bluetooth utility and have been able to use it to its fullest, until recently. The computer recognises the phone but cannot connect to it and the phone recognises that there is 'a' computer (name no longer comes up) and when it tries to pair with the computer it fails. I have reset both the phone and the computer but to no avail.
I have tried all but a hammer to sort this out. Any ideas anyone?
Most grateful for any response
Cheers

Try deleting all pairing information from the phone and the Mac and try re-pairing again.
You don't mention what version of OS X you are using, but try Mac OS X 10.3.5 and iSync v1.5 if you're not already.

Also, have you tried repairing permissions on your boot drive with Apple Disk Utility?
As a last resort, try the following:
- Backup then delete the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.isync.plist
- Backup then delete the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
- Re-pair your phone and set-up the iSync-ing

thanks JoolsG3,
I have Mac OS X 10.3.5 and iSync v1.5. I just don't understand how it 'suddenly' decided not to work!
Will try all you suggested and will let you know - otherwise its a trip back to the shop I'm afraid!
Thanks again!

just tried all that was recomended above and alas it didn't work.
The phone still only shows an icon of the computer with no name, marking it as Unknown, it goes as far as asking for the passkey but once entered it displays "Adding Unknown" then followed by "Bluetooth connection failed"
As for the computer while using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant to pair it, it displays "connection failed ... try set up the phone as discoverable", even though it does 'see' it.
I tried to use iSync it just comes up with "device is not available".
I cannot figure out if it is a fault with the phone or the computer. Any ideas?
I also cannot see why this has suddenly happened when it was working perfectly since I first bought it in June. |

Have you tried a master reset of the phone? Note that this will delete everything you've got stored in the phone.
Do you know anyone else with a similar phone that you could try pairing with? just to check whether its the phone or computer...
Only other thing I can suggest is to download the Mac OS X 10.3.5 Combo Updater, and try installing that... |

Hi jools,
Unfortunately all the people I know that have bluetooth phones are abroad..
I'm a bit wary of doing a Master Reset because even though almost everything is backed on the computer (except for recent photos) if Bluetooth didn't work properly again I would have trouble getting the info into the phone again.
But I might just do it if all else fails...
It seems the best option is to take it back to the shop even if it is just to try pairing it with another bluetooth phone.. It is still under warranty. But still will try anything possible to try and get it up and running.
Thanks again for your help
