globe telecom anounced to all subscribers that beggining aug 19, gprs will be charged @.15c?kb... specifically, carging begins when you access outside myglobe wapsite... and here's the big crap: most accessed wap sites will be opened GRADUALLY until all sites are eventually opened. My brethren, it is now the 26th of august & still no sign of ANY AVAILABLE site aside from myglobe. is this globe's way of maltreating subscribers? i ask.... is this fair especially to us long -time subscribers of globe? im beggining to lose my confidence w/ this kind of lying network. can anyone please enlighten me about this? thanks

Check the 'myGlobe' site. You'll see a list of available sites 'as of the moment'. Can't see anything wrong with what they said. They didn't say that by the 19th ALL sites would be opened for us. All they said was, 'Gradually'.

Gradually could mean a few days of wait for 'us'. But it could also be interpreted as a few months/years, in Globe's own dictionary.

Hi dainnielle23! If I may, please, I have to disagree with your observations. The fact is that Yahoo, ABS-CBN, CNN, and Click The City had been available for FREE gprs browsing even before August 19. All of these free services were capable of being accessed if you knew the proper wap address. A very accommodating Globe CSR gave me the addresses nearly a year ago.

These sites continued to be open since August 19, which is what I personally call the Globe Charge Day. They say they have been adding sites gradually, but I AM NOT INTERESTED. Why? This brings us to the reason why I am posting this reply....

Globe HAS been deceiving us. But it's not about wap site opening. It's about wap OVERCHARGING. Their advertised rate of Php0.15 is simply not true. The actual charging is more than 4 times that, at Php0.68/kb. Others have even reported charges ranging from Php0.80 to Php0.86/kb.

Try using a prepaid SIM and you will see for yourself. Clear the gprs data counter first then browse. Don't make any call, text, or MMS in order to isolate WAP browsing. You'll be astonished at how much they charge.

Sun is very honest on the way they charge WAP browsing. The advertised Php0.25 is true, with only a small percentage of deviation. I've browsed a little on Smart too and the results aren't too expensive either. Now I'm thinking, why didn't Globe just announce the TRUE rate, rather than misleadingly announcing a "lower" rate?

And Globe didn't bother sending any "infotext" to all subscribers. They actually de-prioritized postpaid ones and didn't inform us! On August 19, I was charged Php600+. My computation shows it should really have been Php100+.

Needless to say, when my contract ends, goodbye, Globe!
