Similar laws have been proposed in South Korea and other places, and now a California Assemblywoman is proposing a law which would mandate that all cameraphones emit an audible sound whenever a picture is taken. Besides the obvious stupidity of the law, wouldn’t someone absolutely determined to take surreptitious snapshots with their cameraphone simply find ways to muzzle their phone, like put tape over its speaker? Or since anyone who likes taking sneaky photos would probably just switch to tiny digital cameras, maybe we should require all of those to make some sort of loud, piercing noise, too. The point is, if someone wants to secretly take your picture, they’re going to be able to do it. The technology isn’t going to go away, so get over it.

What bout normal cameras though?
i think people who have camera phones should have hats with big neon signs on stating that the person owns a camera phone. Might work just as well.

or you could just disconnect the speaker inside the handset, and rely on the vibrating function for phone calls.
(you know, it's a little disturbing i think like this sometimes...)
