I've spent days reading the archives and faq's trying to get the mpm to detect my phone... I know regulars will roll their eyes at the fact that another newbie is asking the same old question, but this is what i've done: Bought a usb dongle from ebay and installed all the software with the dongle (xtnd manager and drivers)... I've (re)installed mpm and fiddled with the com serial thing (COM 3) in the settings for mpm and still no joy...I think its my BT dongle (ebay item number: 3085555395). What do i do?

How do you know mpm is not detecting your phone? It doesn't tell you explicitly it detects it or not. If the application(Outlook sync, sendfile, ..etc.) is not working/configured properly, it won't trigger mpm.

Maybe you want to try Float's Mobile Agent which doesn't require mpm.

You can also use HyperTerminal, connect via COM 3 (your BT serial port) to see if there is a connection.

Thanks for the responses...

I'd already tried many of the suggestions:

How I know MPM doesnt detect my phone: MPM doesn't have any phones under the first tab...
If MPM detected my phone then wouldn't the icon would stay in my taskbar when I start up any SE program?

And I must be the first persdn to have any problems with FloAt:
In the settings I have it on bluetooth, press connect and it disconnects instantly (in the bottom left hand corner), I put it on serial port COM 3 in settings and it initialises for ages then says Connection Failed...

When I tried to connect under network connections in XP, I got stumped when it asked me for my dial up username and password...
And when I tried to run anubisunist in Run, nothing happens...

So having cried and decided to format my PC as I ran low on diskspace, I'll give it another shot when its up and running...

I was wondering though: do I need to have my BT XTNDBluemanager running when running FMA or not? I've tried so many combinations I give up...

But thanks for the help guys!
