I've been thinking about getting a T630, but can't stand how shite it looks. Bunch of plastic Fisher Price bollocks.

So, can the innards of the T630 be fitted into a T610 case? Common sense does dictate to just buy a T610 in the first place, but I think the screen on it is simply terrible, and I mostly use my phone outside in daylight.

Anyone tried this or know for certain if it's possible?

this is not possible because the phone dimensions are different.

however, it should be theoretically possible to change the screens because they are the same size (spare screens should become available on ebay) provided the connections are identical. i have yet to hear of anyone doing this succesfully though.

you could of course try the black t630, which is apparently much better looking.

You cant put a t630 screen in a t610 because the t630 screen uses more power and is not compatible with all firmwares.

Yeah, in the controller ROM. Refresh rates, lighting methodology, etc.

yeah, but is that instructions to the phone electronics of when to perform those functions, or specifications for the screen performance/behaviour irrespective of the handset?

if that information is for the handset electronics, it should work no matter what screen is in it. that's not to say the screen will perform well under those conditions though.

Thanks for the replies.

So, putting a T630 board into a T610 case is completely out of the question?

And swapping a T630 screen into a T610 can theoretically be done?

In a few reviews of the T630 I have read that the T610 can be flashed with the T630 firmware, seeing as the hardware they are based on is identical (including batteries). Would this then enable a T630 TFT screen to be used in a T610?

If not, I'd probably have to wait for the T650 or whatever it's going to be called, as even the black T630 looks like a cheap plastic toy.

Argh!

Can't stand clamshells, and the Z600 is a dull, generic-looking brick of a phone. Reminds me of Motorola's lacklustre designs, and it certainly ain't handy.

Need positive confirmation on whether a T630 screen can be made to work in a T610 or not...

you might be pleasantly surprised by the z600.

as for the screen thing, i haven't seen anything definitive as yet.

I've tried the Z600; really didn't like it. Even if it was styled well and smaller, it'd still be a clamshell, which I simply cannot stand.

Might give the Sendo X a go if it comes to market before the next century
