Hi, I am new here. I just recently bought a T616 and have a few questions.

1. When I turn on and off the phone, I hear static over the speaker while it shuts off and turns on. Is this okay? Is this just the audio kicking in? I do not have static during use and while ringtones are played.

2. I get very poor reception in my room. In other parts of the house, it is better but not good. Outside it is much better. Since this phone is all digital, could normal household appliances and electronics be interfering with the phone?

3. How do I find out what version firmware do I have? Will my local AT&T store be able to upgrade it in the store or do I need to send it away to Sony Ericsson?

4. And finally.. if any of you have this phone? Are you happy with it?

Thanks, and nice place ya' got here.

let's see....

1 - i've never had a phone close enough to my ear while turning on/off to detect this. is suspect it's just the speaker's response to powering up, but i don't really know.

2 - some appliances can interfere, but it's more likely to be the building materials of your house. some insulation types are particularly good at blocking radio signals. it may also simply be the dimensions of the rooms you're in - if they are an exact multiple of the wavelength then the signal will have some trouble (like am radio when going through a tunnel) but i seriously doubt it.

3 - Answers to the most common questions on Esato Forums (FAQ style) should answer most of your questions relating to this.

4 - ask them, or call/email SE customer service for info. there are some places around that do fw upgrades, but it depends what area you're in.

there are others who can probably give better answers to these questions, but i hope i helped some. you may find more info if you
