Is it possible to update (free) the firmware on my T610. I have R1L and my Java is very slow. I like to update to R3L or R4L. If it's possible please tell me how. Thx

If you take it to the shop where you bought it or (preferably) to a SE service point(send an Email to customer service on SE's homepage for a list in your area) they ought to do it for free.Best to tell them though that you have some sort of problem . Bluetooth headset interferance usually does the trick with R1L. There is no way to update via internet.
The software you want is R3C.

Is there any data-loss during the firmware upgrade?
I don't wanna lose any phonenumbers, bookmarks, settings etc.
So, is it risky or not?

@xavier1

No, you do not lose any data, even your games and melodies are stored. I have done 2 upgrades till now (R1A->R1L->R3C) and everything was stored in it...

If you do it wrong, bye bye phone. You need an ericsson service data cable and you actually need to find the firmware to download. If you have found the firmware and got a service cable, go ahead, but keep a back up so you got numbers etc

I have R1A on mine, and I just got a java English/Spanish dictionary and it's VERY slooooow. Will it really make a big difference if I get the firmware upgraded to the latest version?

R1A is really lousy, R3C is so much better, way faster good improvements and java is faster!

fw upgrades are free as long as the handset is still in warranty, otherwise you have to pay.
