Z600 assigning ringtones |

Please excuse "the newbie", I've applied a search and don't seem to be able to find the specific answer...
As a previous Nokia 3410 user - my wife was able to assign ringtones (supplied or downloaded) to individual phone numbers ie mother, daughter and myself, all had our own 'callsign' as did sms... Time to upgrade, I ordered the fataly flawed 02X1 last month as an upgrade and wow - what a dissapointment! Assigning 'supplied' ringtones to groups (ie family, work set up in the directory) only - not able to assign a single downloaded ringtone (latest chart hits etc) to anything other than all incoming calls. Colour screens were not clear, battery life was terrible and the handset lasted 10 days before locking up and crashing...A real let down, a new and modern phone that was a far cry from the 2year old model she currently uses. We have been warned that there is nothing to beat the nokia platform for versatility, I'm hoping that the Sony Erricson Z600 will prove that to be wrong.
So now I'm looking at the Z600 - read many online articles and have come to the conclusion - class to look at, increased battery capacity... improved screen, but is the ringtone versatility going to please my wife or will it not be able to do everything and more that her Nokia does? She doesn't ask much from all the features that this phone holds - I know from your FAQ that only the 'supplied' sms tones can be used... but will she hear the difference for different family and friends from her choice of downloaded ringtones when any of us ring her? |

yes, you absolutely can assign any ringtone (downloaded or pre-loaded) to any contact. your selection is limited only to phone memory and the number of midis or imys you can find.
it is done through Phonebook > Personal rings

Just an after thought. The Z600 is a great phone. But if I recall correctly, there is a limit to the number of ringtones you can assign to your contacts.
