Does anyone knows how I could transfer pics from my IPAQ 3950 to my T610 via IR? I tried and mypda keeps telling that the transfer failed. I tried transferring .bmp and .jpg pics to my T610 for wallpaper use. Any ideas?

welcome to esato!

DO NOT try to transfer bitmaps to the t610. not only do they take up a lot of space, they are incompatible with the phone. the jpegs should be fine. you may also want to try a gif file.

however, there may be issues with using the IR on the 610 to link with the ipaq due to proprietary differences (e.g. it is usually impossible to transfer anything via IR between different brand phones), but ipaq to pc, pc to 610 should be ok. if you need to go straight from the ipaq to phone then try investing in a bluetooth adaptor for the PDA - it's faster and doesn't require line of sight.

a couple of basic things to check may be that the ipaq and phone do indeed have uninterrupted line of sight between the IR ports, and that the IR on the 610 is actually turned on. if possible check that the ipaq is detecting the presence of another device through IR. you may also want to experiment with trying to "push" from the ipaq or "pull" from the phone, and sending from phone to ipaq to see if the connection works.

i'm pretty sure this problem has come up for others so a quick may prove fruitful, or a browse through the Technical forums may help.

Ipaq to t610 through bluetooth? Why can't I seem to do that on my h5550 - it doesn't have the option to send thru bluetooth on the resco file explorer or the built in file explorer... but it does have the sent thru infrared option... y?

As has been mentioned the T610 does not support bmp files however I regularly transfer files from my ipaq to my T610 andZ600 using both IR and BT.

via IR simply make sure that you turn on IR on the Z600 and then use the ipaq file explorer to locate the file you want, press and hold then stylus on the filename and then choose beam file...

for BT its a little different. Assuming you have paired with the phone you need to go into the bluetooth manager located at the bottom right of the today screen. You then click and hold on the OBEX File Transfer (there will be more than one if you have 2 paired phones like me so choose the one for the phone you want to send to), then click connect from the menu that pops up. You will have to accept the connection on the phone.

You are then presented on the ipaq with 3 folders from the phone, pictures, sounds and themes. If you click on one of these you can see the contents. If you then click on one of the files yo get the option to "get file", i.e. copy it from the phone to the ipaq, or delete.

To send a file go to the File menu at the bottom of the screen and choose send a file where you then get an open dialogue so just find where the file you want to send to the phone is and click it!

thats it!

Thanks guys for the reply. However, the funny thing is that T610 comes with a software, Sony Ericsson Image Editor. And the predetermine format that it saves on for T610 is .bmp. I have read somewhere else that T610 is not compatible with bmp files. I tried aligning the phone and the PDa and it still doesnt work. Tried it with the jpg and gif files too and it still failed. Anyways, I appreciate your contribution. I may not get the cable, its not really that important.
