T610 & Mobile Phone Monitor problems...any ideas? |

Right - I installed MPM and plugged in my T610 via a USB cable but MPM doesn't seem to detect my phone. When I go to the MPM settings in 'control panel' the only thing I can change is the com port. I have tried enabling each com port in turn with the others disabled but it makes no difference...stiull nothing. Does MPM run all the time in the background and detect a phone as soon as its plugged in or do I have to force it to detect...if so, how do I do this? If it does detect my phone, does it automatically enter the details in the mobile phones box in the settings program? Should there be a button to start MPM in the start menu? I am hoping to use MPM to connect my phone so I can upload stuff using Sendfile from Christersson.org.

The MPM takes a little time to detect a phone. I had instances where it took only 30 seconds for it to see the phone, and there are times that it can take 2 mins.
If you are using  DCU-10/11, you will know which COM port to enable and the ports to disable by checking the Device Manager. Click on the Ports plus sign to expand it, and it should be listed which COM port your cable is plugged into.

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice - I have tried the stuff on that link and my USB serial emulator is on com4 so I have enabled and reserved com4 in MPM but it still doesn't detect my phone. I tried the hyper-terminal check and it won't see my cable but I know the cable works cos I can use it to connect my phone to 'T610 USB Handset Manager' - how do I know that MPM is actually running? The reason i'm going through all this is becauase I can't use the above program to upload themes, games etc, only pics and tones...any idea's there?

Ah - that might be a clue.
If this is a cable from the "Handset Manager" range of products (can't remember the company name now!), then I don't think they work with any other software. DOn't know why not - not a hardwre expert.

Ah - that could be the answer, i've just checked with the guy the cable belongs to and he bought it with a copy of Handset Manager...
Does anyone know why handset manager doesn't allow the uploading of Java files or themes, it will only give me access to the pictures and ringtones 'directories' in my T610 and if I try to upload and other file extensions it says unable to do so - is this a function of the phone which I need to change or a software issue?

It could be the 'Hardware Driver' for your particular cable that's causing all this. Try getting a newer driver from the website of the manufacturer or better yet, get DCU-10 or 11.

Handset Manager uses a different cable. Probably because they want to make money selling cables. Anyhow, you are much better off just getting a cable (or better yet IR/BT)

...remember that you can't send anything from your phone to PC using a DCU cable.

Yeap wrath, that's the catch with his cable - it is the cable said to be able to retrieve files from the phone as well.

I've actually seen software which was supposed to support two-way OBEX over DCU cable. When I tested the software, it supported only T68 (so I couldn't test it properly with my T610), but it did manage to retrieve some system files over DCU/Bluetooth...
