It's up to you m8. Just ask yourself what features you need and he you need it now or in about 6 months. Cheers

Ok, I don't know if this is still relevant but back in Feb... I was told that the successor of the P800 would have a 320x240 screen, be a lot thinner than the P800, and MAYBE EDGE or 3G data rates. The P900 doesn't have the screen res or the high-speed data that I was told... so I can only assume that the P900 is not the successor of the P800.

It seems to me that the P900 is NOT targetted at us P800 owners, but more at new buyers. The successor of the P800 should be announced in Dec like I was told (which is probably why I was surprised to see the P900 announced earlier)

Just my 2 cents.

@jplacson, Be carfull not to try a p900 out, because if you like the P800, you will find the P900 very impressive, & irresistible. It is completely rebuilt.

@jplacson

i defo hear what your saying and this ties in totally with what i've heard, and although not doubting the excellence of the p900 (would love one and if possible will get one(pachy!!)) but as a successor to the p800 it's not and i do really think that have something up their sleeve as regards this... the next few days are going to be spent (by me!) trying to track down whatever info i can find regarding this and the original theme of this thread to see what is out there...

i do think that there is room for the p800/p900 to survive along side another high end phone.... just look at nokia for an example of that.. and i dont think sales of the P8/900 would be affected by the release of another high end phone (with the features i mentioned above) i beleive it would probably help sales of all phones accross the range, as it would raise the profile of and further enhance their reputation...

there definatley is room, that is just my opinion and i believe in this instance i am right as nokia are to release a 'touch screen' symbian powered phone in the not to distant future, need to do more than the p900 to keep the title of the Number one Mobile device that they hold at the mo with the P*** series.. i hope im getting my point accross ?! i sometimes type faster than i think lol!!

Yes it is, but he has a very good point. Of course I want a P900 badly but is it really aimed for us P800 owners, good question but I don't have an answer...

I had a P800 now a P900 and if in six or nine months there is a P????
I Will sell My P900 and get a P??? because SE P-series phones are way toocool.
And every Next P??? SE makes is a step in a good direction.

So buy a P900 and sell il later to buy a P??? It is worth the try

You are right it isnt as good as I expected but it was good enoug for me to buy the P900 and i am sure if the sucsessor of the P900 comes i will be buying it too. even if then again the difference is little but i think that won't be the case.

thats it though i have no doubt that new P*** series be it P1000 or p980, will be a bigger jump forward than that of p800 to p900, i really still think though that the p900 is not a succesor to the p800 its a New line as the logical step for a successor model would have been the p810 name and called this p900 that as they have the real successor to the p800 up their sleeve..

there was much debate within of the name change and the way they looked at it in my opinion was this is this p900 taking over from where the p800 is leaving off? NO so its name reflects that.. hope you know what i mean i know there's many on here who have debated this in one way or the other and came to a similar conclusion..

@willie007

why will you be spending more money? is it 'cause you want the latest technology? 'cause if so What 'NEW' tech does the p900 have over the p800 and is it just new phones you'll be spending money on?

cause there are other makes out there too

i dont stick to just one make i go for what ever the best is at the time and i still feel the p800 is the best (that includes p900) as might have changed the name, but all nokia do is release the phone with exchngeable covers so in this instance that really all have done when you really look at it, but the new cover will set you back another small fortune! did no one tell that its just the covers nokia sell!!, there's no phone inside them you put that there yourself lol!!

Everything you say is right on the point

Ill be only spending money on SE phones surely not on Nokia phones,
My girlfriend has nokia and she is like the opposite of me she hates SE because she can't work with it, I hate Nokia because there UI is Booooring.
No I stick to SE.
If you look at the New 7700 what would you choose the nokia or the P900?
My choiche is P900 without a doubt
