OK folks, a question from a guy too old to be worried about the tune on his phone, and doesn't have a clue what he's doing (so be gentle with me....)

I've recently bought a T68i, having always had nice, easy to operate Nokias.

Rather than mess around with that modern fangled WAP business, to download new tunes, I decided to get a data cable.

I got one off a fella on eBay, and it came with a CD crammed full of stuff - but no instructions to point an old man on his way.

Before I completely knacker my PC with applications I don't want, can anyone offer any advise?

I guess the stuff on the CD is pretty standard - is there a list of likely applications, to tell me what they are/what I do with them?

But most importantly, how do I go about connecting my phone to the PC, via the cable, so I can transfer tunes, themes etc?

If it's of any use, I'm running Windows XP. Also, when trying (and failing) to get by with no help, one of the applications (XTND?) kept saying it wouldn't go any further without Outlook being loaded, despite having Outlook running at the time.

Sorry to sound like a useless old fart - it's just that I'm a useless old fart.....

Sorry mate cant be of much help, and suprised you waited a week and no-one has helped you.
Anyway, try doing a search (its a link in the top right of the screen), search for connecting t68i via datacable or something along those lines (getting ringtones to t68i with cable etc). I dont have my t68 anymore, nor do i have the cable (sold as well ), so cant give you a detailed guide, maybe someone else....

The only way i found to send stuff to my t68 via cable was to download the SE My Pictures software as it is easy to use and very helpful get it from sonyericsson.com after that its childs play but got bored with that and brought infa red port alot easier.

As for xdn connect i had the same problem so i uninstall both programs put outlook back on first and then xdn after and it worked like a dream.

Hope this helps you

I think I understand your question to cover, in part, how to get XTNDConnect to work using a cable connection.

As I am struggling with this, and yet had used it successfully for several months, perhaps we can advance together.

To start, where in the PC are you plugged in (Serial Port?, USB Port?). What version of Outlook are you using?
What version of XTND Connect are you using?

To send themes, ringers and pics, use sendfile from www.christersson.org
See to it that you have mobile phone monitor from SE's site installed and running on the proper com port.
This thread will provide the most of SE's SW that you'll need:
