I only talks about global devices, the Japanese one are not in conversation (although they are better built than its global counterparts).
Should be 12bit RAW in a 16bit DNG file (4 bit basically just zeros)

I have always suspect phones (from all brands) were not equal.
I remember to hear gossips in local websites (comments from users) of my location, that galaxy s6 sold here had weaker glass than the device sold in Europe/Korea.
I had chance to touch one. That thing did not even feel like glass. Felt like plastic used for bucket and toys. Too weird.
Z3+ feels much heavier, despite difference is only 6g. |

following are my take on so far, mostly from spektykles:
feel free to disagree
- there are two new xperias
- one is global, another Japanese version
- only global one will be annouced on Oct 26
- Japanese version is better buit with SD888+? |

No.
I think he means he thought phone would be SD888+, but it is 888. Maybe another device for 2022 could use 888+. Also claims any xperia sold in Japan is better made than same xperia sold outside Japan. |

Well, Sony/ /Xperia Japan had always been japan made or locally manufactured. |

New post on insta. Close up shot of an eye.
You can see the external "ring" of the camera around the iris. |

I am not making stuff up about Japanese devices being better For example with 1III, Japanese variants have extra graphite wraparound just like Xperia Pro, to help cooling those mmWave antennas. Side benefit is device also run cooler (since most of us doesnt have mmWave reception at home..) |

Sony Xperia US Twitter account just tweeted "Discover the next generation of smartphone camera technology"
Could it be a curved image sensor? That would explain why the human eye keeps on being featured in the daily teaser posts.

Sony has a patent. But if their tech was ready, Semicon would have presented. There is no report anywhere.
There is a imaging company from France that has the tech too. But no cam so far uses it.
Months ago Sony Alpha Rumors posted about Sony's patent. And the site owner (he is italian photographer) suspect that patent was module for cellphones.

I'm just glad it's a single lens shooter. Still I wouldn't be too overhyped cause it will not reach RX100 levels. |

Obviously. The 📷 not only has glass elements but each of them has an optical purpose. Phones have almost all elements equal.

Are we sure it has nothing to do with that liquid lens tech?

No, we don't but many here and elsewhere doubt that is has liquid or Fresnel lens. |
