After seeing the latest in the making, eh. Me not impressed Sony as usual, still cant catch up and still using "obsoleted" hardware from last gen. Others are racing to get variable aperture + 1 inch sensor. Sure, the next "PRO" is gonna have some unique stuffs, but from the PQ perspective, completely lost and its not even released yet
Call me cynical but it is what it is....

Also, the price for next year phones should be cheaper due to various factors. Sony not decided the price yet but I hope they reduce it for customer sakes

Considering the amount of money lost between 2015-2019, zero surprise sony tries all possible to fix finances. I would not mind if next pro has same imx486, as long full area is used.

I wonder how can be cheaper. Android phones for 2023 have 8g2/ddr5x/ufs4.0. Not even counting other pieces.
I know oppo and honor have tested imx989, not sure if vivo gonna use it or counterpart isocell.

Yeah, I don't see how it could get cheaper since inflation is goin wild right now. The best case scenario for 1V to is to retain 1IV pricing but I doubt 5 V has the comfort to do the same.

When it comes to new PRO at this point I'm not even sure it has Type 1 sensor of any kind anymore. Unless they have some more leftovers of RX100 sensors which they turned into IMX4** somewhere and then took them for an upgrade to feature HDR burst, Wide Dynamic Range video, etc. We will see soon.

Making a "pro-i 2" with smaller cmos (even if it uses larger area) would be awful from marking POV. Considered a failure. XQ-54CCu real or fake?

The fake news to hide real specs of next "pro" are getting too creative. Device would need to have 30mm thickness to house all cam setup they claim.

Three 2023 Xperias spotted so far but only one of them has SD8 Gen1. What does it mean?

This sounds like some rebrand BS they did with and for Chinese customers for better marketing purposes. I'm not sure this will affect Xperia in any way.

Any chance 1v comes with 5045 x 2160 screen? If D9200 supports 5K 60Hz , I imagine 8g2 can do it too or even more.

I'm sure you all know the latest rumors on Sony Xperia devices for 2023.

I'm just posting this as the finding is quite nice on a larger more generic Android site.

What you need to know

Sony is gearing up to expand its Xperia product portfolio next year.
The handset maker is expected to release at least five new models in 2023.
That includes three premium models and one entry-level smartphone.
A new report also hints at a possible omission of a fingerprint sensor in one of the Xperia models next year.

A new report from Japanese tech news site SumahoDigest (opens in new tab) (via PhoneArena (opens in new tab)), says Sony is working on at least five new phones set to release next year. The models comprise the Xperia 5 V, Xperia 1 V, Xperia PRO-II, Xperia 10 V, and Xperia ACE IV.

The flagship models Xperia 1 V, Xperia 5 V, and the Xperia PRO-II are said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is expected to be unveiled in the upcoming Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit 2022 next week.

The Xperia ACE IV is rumored to be the cost-effective model featuring a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC. According to PhoneArena, this device could be an alternative to the iPhone mini for Android enthusiasts. This particular device reportedly comes in two models: one for the home turf, i.e., Japan, and the other likely to make its way to global markets.

Three of these devices are subjected to the traditional launch pattern, which means you can expect the Xperia 1 V and 10 V models to be released in May 2023, followed by the Xperia 5 V in September of the same year. The Xperia 10 V is expected to sit between the premium models and the ACE model, as it is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC.

Another report from SumahoDigest (opens in new tab) (via Notebookcheck (opens in new tab)) also hints at a possible omission of the side-mounted fingerprint sensor in favor of an in-display fingerprint sensor for at least one of the above-mentioned models. In previous Xperia models, the power button simultaneously acted as a fingerprint sensor, which often felt reliable and fast for Android device owners.
