I tried the 1iv and the heating is a major problem, can't use the camera and even the recent hot weather has made it worse. I'm going to skip this generation.

Someone on reddit says CPU Z claims his 10iii has SD750, not 690.

How?

I'm using it from a while and it's not so "tragic". Yeah, it becomes very warm sometimes, but it's pretty ok in a normal daily use.

How?

CPU-Z simply using the built-in database that the devs put it. If the device is new they will try to extrapolate from the info bits they collected, like codename, board name, chip name,....The 690 and 750 is almost the same from the software perspective (sharing the same codename "lagoon"/the same Adreno 619/same Kryo cores..). The only viable way (non-root) to discriminate both chips is comparing the clock speed to the chip database, unfortunately this is unreliable because 3rd party overclock, custom ROM, etc...so most hardware info app doesnt use this method. So in the case of that 10III, the CPU-Z got confused and choose to display the info as 750G

Wouldnt be easier and maybe cheaper to use smaller sensor for periscope like 667 instead of cropping a larger one? I still cant believe it was able to fit 650 in there. Phone is slim.

Is the info 5000mAh, 8.2mm and 157g correct? This weight is too weird. There is no they cut 10g with larger battery and maybe adding Qi charging unless frame becomes plastic like 10 series.

Would be nice to have different colours this time. Too much green and pink lately. How about copper, cian, mustard yellow, orange, gray, chocolate brown, gold, silver chrome ...

As long as it's not a navy blue or any kind of blue I'm down with any other color.

Btw I don't think they used IMX 650 for periscope, it's most likely false readout. It's some custom sensor which shares electronics/firmware/controller with 650 but with swapped smaller pixel area without useless RYYB.

But specs posted screenshot from software codes that show it is 650.

The 707y is the one ryyb. It is 1/1.28" ...

Cinema Pro needs SLog3.

Bonus : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=T1j_vNOK5Ss

Why doesn't sony have own service like Netflix/Disney+/HBO Max? Sony owns tons movies (mainly Columbia Pictures).

Isn't Bravia Core the start of such a thing?

Supposedly they were developing Slog for cellphones but that didn't see light of the day. I don't think we will ever see SLog on Cinema Pro just like how we will never see XAVC-I codec or something similar simply because I tend to believe that Cinema Pro is approaching EOL within two years or less. If we know something it's that whenever Sony keeps it's apps stagnant for period of over a year it means they stopped developing it, from there on app is on the auto pilot technical support until it reaches its' end. If an app has online features than those features are first to be shut down.

Cine Pro and Photo Pro are main selling points beside the screen. Without them , why would anyone buy the phone? Even the AR effects still exist, despite they should have killed since X series.

Video Pro makes way more sense to use than Cinema Pro. Video Pro is Sony's redemption app instead of updating Cinema Pro with auto exposure, eye af and 16:9 ratio. I for one don't use Cinema Pro at all anymore. Mainly because I can't turn off HLG which degrades the image quality on PRO-I for some reason.

Lack of auto exposure on Cinema Pro has been really hurting the app for regular users, it's the first thing they don't understand when they use the app for walkthrough video recording. When you tell them it's meant for single environment shots they don't understand what that means. How hard was to put EV slider like in Photo Pro so you can at least manually adjust the exposure on the fly? Lack of object tracking is another great omission if you pan your shots.

Sony Professional Camera department has too many good tricks on their cameras that haven't been implemented in Cinema Pro. No Picture Profiles at all. The color grading options they offer as Looks are just horrible and they need opacity slider like yesterday. How hard is to implement an opacity slider? I've never used those yellow, sepia, blue color grades. They are just horrible. Again how hard was for them to load additional 3D LUTs from FX6 or have scene presets like on their professional cameras? Also focusing doesn't have presets such as Flexible Spot, Zone, Wide like on their cameras, these could easily be implemented with the power of SoC in Xperia. Lack of object tracking in the app has already been mentioned as well as hybrid focusing. Since app struggles with focus and exposure it's mind boggling they omitted focus peaking and zebras.

It's half baked app at this point. It started promising and then they refocused on Video Pro which takes cue from XDCAM line of cameras instead. When you think about it that makes more sense, XDCAM was all about integrated lens with great optical zoom capabilities and 1III/1IV are all about zoom features.

Thats a bit too much for the SoC The camera softwares right now dont use much hardware-acceleration so even basic tasks will struggle and make the phone overheats (some other mfgs are optimized and offload the works to other blocks such as DSP/NPU so its much better).
One close analogy is DSEE. Not all DSEE implentations is the same, DSEE on dedicated Walkman players/PC (like TA-ZH1ES have its own Altera Cyclone IV FPGA as processor) are way way much better than those DSEE-HX/Ultimate (using those tiny ARM cores) on those tiny Sony speakers/headsets/phones because the processing power isnt there

Isnt snapdragon way stronger than bionz? That is why I do not get.

AF and tracking are slower than the 📷. Even compared to apsc with much slower exmors.
No slog.
No 30fps like A1.
No burst for raw.

About Cine Pro .. This is why you need to play with shutter speed according to each situation. Having a NDF also is very required. Do you know HLG needs edition, right? Otherwise they look very weird out of camera. Cine and Video do not have same bitrates. You never get same quality out of both.

F4 on PRO-I helps a lot in Cinema Pro exposure while outdoors. But HLG on PRO-I degrades the quality of a frame in both Cinema Pro and Video Pro apps compared to SDR video. HLG introduces either a lower bitrate or flawed post process workflow. It's full of artifacts and degradation especially when in motion. When I shoot in Cinema Pro I shoo with NA look instead of Venice. Unless you want a scene to look muted on purpose I suggest not to shoot in Venice because you can't get saturation back. It's a lot easier for me to make dull grey overlay on top of normally saturated video then to do it vice versa. Venice look would make sense if they at least gave us an option of XAVC-I so each frame has enough data. But still I've shot with many Sony and BMD cameras where I just set the grade how I want it straight in the camera, no reason to go neutral gray all the time.

Expansys allows to pre-order Xperia 5 IV without announcing price (again). There are some nice renders, though.
