Someone posted a comment on reddit saying about another post on weibo suggesting a japanese OEM plans to sell foldable device in 2022.
Sony or Sharp?

After having another peek at the next gen, the sensor setup is very competitive against the Chinese offerings, even better at some aspect. All Quad-Bayer sensors with 12-bit ADC, On-Chip Lens PDAF and dynamic > 12-stops. DRAM stack might not return because the readout of current sensors is comparable without the disadvantage of crosstalks from DRAM. Super slow motion 960fps might be gone for the first time. Compared to previous gen 1III, the IMX557 sensor only have 10-bit ADC (12-bit software sampling) and 11-stops dynamic range, an early Gen6 sensor design with fatal flaws Sometimes being too cutting edge can be a hidden killer, like the previously world-first IMX400 Gen4 sensor with DRAM have serious issues with crosstalks and power consumption, it doesnt contribute nothing to the Xperia image quality, Samsung on other hand loved it because they can take advantage and apply stacking computation processing. I love it that Sony now using more mature stuffs.
Also a minor correction, previously I said Xperia Pro-I using IMX506. But this is not true. In reality it's using IMX478,
a brand new (old) sensor Sorry |

I do not want 766 , nor 586. 😡😡
Using this crap because of 8K is not worth.
Full resolution is garbage compared to native bayer cmos.
If this tech was good, 7s3 would not be the only 📷 with QB.
It is bizarre these issues with DRAM. The A9/A1 seem to work pretty well with the tech.
Sony semicon has a 12MP 1/1.3" global shutter. We need this one instead.

Quad Bayer? So why did they insist against it for so long only to make a switcheroo? |

A "friend" told me this, take this with a huge bottle of salt
IMX598
IMX766
IMX789
IMX something new, 1/2.3" 48MP 0.9μm
Are you happy? Since you are asking the sensor details
Yes it is known that Quad-Bayer is worse than traditional one, but with the on-chip lens it helps reduce the disadvantage hugely. Also the Quad-Bayer reputation is also tainted partly by Samsung with their incomplete Quad-Bayer algorithms (for example on GM1 sensor).

Is this 1iv? Bezel is surely shorter than 1iii... https://androidnext.info/wp-c[....]021/06/3r1deqwdqq-1200x782.jpg
For those that do not know :
589 = 48MP 1/2" , only used by Vivo so far
766 = 50MP 1/1.56" used by BBK
789 = 48MP 1/1.42" , used by OP9 Pro
4 cameras? So they are gonna drop zoom cam to use two primes instead like woman from weibo suggested months ago or this 1/2.3" is front?
Using quadbayer is so pointless when no phone uses real-time HDR. Otherwise, frame stacking would not be necessary.
I love sony policy .... Let's use exclusive exmor when we are losing money. But public exmor when we are making money.
Could you please check if 777MIJ is for industry only or able to be used for phones? Thanks !!
