Well the cropping has its perks though technically they shouldn't market it as 1 inch sensor since it's technically not utilizing the whole sensor.
"1.0 Type sensor is a more suitable marketing".
But then again, the pro-I won't gain this much attention from the press and media if they didn't mention the 1.0 inch sensor.
This phone is by far Xperia's most prominent announcement to date albeit controversial. I would even daresay, it has even surpass the Xperia Z and all the Xperia in terms of generating this much up hype.
The Xperia pro-I is the first Xperia I have seen that have attracted non-Sony Fans
Going back to the sensor, the cropping made it possible for the focus points to increase from 70% to 90%.
Moreover, as Dpreview has mentioned, the cropping during video recording is decreased due to the larger unused space.
And they used it correctly. Because a 1 inch sensor is not really an inch diagonally.

He want sharp oled, despite being much more expensive than samsung. He want and L5 with mmwave, OIS, stereo speakers, IP67 and 5000mAh for $200. This person has serious issues !!!

He missed a zero there in the price and his dream phone would have the size of a brick |

@spek, read and have fun. My favorite parts are "same DAC used by walkman" and he think ISP is related to sensor readout speed.

Just wondering if the PRO range will be limited to Imaging and Video. I would like to see a Xperia PRO-A (A for Audio).

Does anyone know PRO-I video bitrates in Basic mode and Video Pro? I could swear I saw them listed somewhere either on some YouTube video or some other board. From watching crappy YouTube compression samples I could see Video Pro retains more detail than Basic mode video both shot in 4K/30. That could be either to bumped bitrate or different post process.
Also FlawlessEye. What is the deal with that this time around? Previously it was only available in Basic mode but supposedly now it's available everywhere. In video pro app we've seen only Stabilization On/Off and no mention of what kind is it. Is FlawlessEye now adopted across more video formats and framerates?

FlawlessEye is a kind of EIS tech thats only available on fast readout capable sensors. On Pro-I both EIS and OIS are enabled and combined together.

Accessories cost much more than 🎧.
This is why they do not give for free. |

Stabilization jittering like hell, sure it's not the final firmware but I doubt they can fix this anytime soon.

Slow shutter speed + 24fps. Samples of gsmarena (30fps) do not have this. |
