Samsung has announced the Galaxy Y DUOS and Galaxy Y Pro DUOS dual SIM smartphones. Both running Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Samsung Galaxy Y Pro DUOS and Samsung Galaxy Y DUOS are two entry level smartphones running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The Galaxy Y Duos has a 3.14 inch touch display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution. On this entry level devices you will not find AMOLED type of display or similar high end features. Just a 832 MHz processor and 160 MB memory. Internal storage is reported to be 4 GB ROM and 3 GB RAM. That has to be wrong and we expect the Galaxy Y Duos to be fitted with 512 MB RAM plus expandable memory with a microSD card slot.
Galaxy Y Pro Duos is a full QWERTY model with a smaller touch screen. To us, it looks like the successor of the very popular Samsung Ch@t C3222 which also was a dual SIM model. Galaxy Y Pro Duos is Samsung's first QWERTY smartphone with dual SIM. It has a 2.6 inch display which supposedly are giving more business-friendly experience. It is shipped with Polaris Office app for work with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files. Find My Mobile is a service operated by Samsung which can remotely lock a missing phone, trace it or remotely wipe the phone content.
The press release from Samsung says that the the Galaxy Y Duos is the first full touch smartphone. They might have forgotten the older Samsung B7722 which had a 3.2 inch touch screen and dual SIM option. But the Galaxy Y Duos is the first Android powered Samsung smartphone with room for two SIM cards.
Both the two Galaxy Y Duos models will be available in Russia in January and they will later be available in Europe, CIS, Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Southwest Asia. The Galaxy Y Duos model will also be available in Southeast Asia and China.
