Oh yes the Beta 4.0

I jail broke with no problems at all. Since then been sifting through A LOT of stuff on there. Some of it make me wonder why I didn't jail break a long time ago. But a lot of the stuff on there is.... well.... a bit pointless and doesn't work too well. But it's worth it for all the good stuff

So far I've got:

winterboard (so far don't see the point in it as most of the themes don't work too well at all)

Lockinfo - brilliant. Prefer this over intelliscreen.

5 app dock

Thinking about Categories - but heard a fair few bad things about it.

Thinking about that thing were you can have different wallpapers behind each screen.

Any other strong recommendations?

Thanks lads for the help :thumb:

lol, I guess when you first jailbreak its like being a kid in a candy store... all that (mostly) free stuff
but I found eventually I deleted most of what I downloaded and just ended up with 2 or 3 things

Oh oh! I think I've already broken my iPhone after jail breaking it.

I was installing something from Cydia and then the screen just went to the silver apple logo and now it wont do anything!

Help please

I know I can just revert back using iTunes to pre jailbreak but if possible I'd like to revert back to as it was just before it broke.

Thanks

first thing to do is hold the power and home keys in until the phone turns off, then the apple logo shows and then the phone turns off again.

At this point. release the buttons and press the power button to turn it on.

It will take MUCH longer than usual to turn on (be patient!) but this should recover you back to working state

Thanks Masseur. Done that already and it's been about 10 minutes and still nothing.

If I restore from back-up will I still have my Cydia Apps? I'm guessing not, but here's to hoping

strange? that has always recovered me from issues with jailbroken apps. Sure you did it right? worth trying again.

restoring will not restore you to a jailbroken phone so you won't have cydia or any of the apps installed from there.

How long does it normally take to reboot?

I'll leave it be for about 1/2 hour and see what happens.

Thanks for the help dude :thumb:

not sure as I've never timed it, but it does feel worryingly long sometimes!

Dude, it's up and running. PHEW! I really would have been annoyed if I'd have had to re-down load ALL those apps - and then re-set them all LOL

Thanks

I could be wrong but I vaguelly recall there is a method of backing cydia stuff so you don't have to do that... but I've no idea of the details.

might be worth a google

There's a package available on Cydia called PKG Backup which enables you to back-up and re-store. It's about $3/4.

You can jailbreal it but not unlock it. Read somewhere that it should not be too long until it's able to be done.
