Unlocking/jailbreaking a 3.1.3 (05.12.01) 3Gs Iphone |

Quick question please? I have bought an unlocking from iphone-unlocker-pro (advertised on here) that works on v3.1.3 or so it states. It uses a customised Blackra1n. Can I screw it up if it does not support my modem app 5.12.1 or will it say not supported and bail out?
I don't want to start it yet for fear of it not working.
Thanks guys
Doug

Update. Tried this and got a screen that siad "wait for reboot". Waited 15 minutes, nothing. Rebooted myself and was exactly as it was when started.
Any ideas please?

As far as I am aware there is no software based unlocking solution for 3.1.3, it should be out soon...

Thanks. Strange, this says guaranteed to work on 3.1.3 with reviews that says it works! Methinks needs a refund then!

jailbreaking has been demonstrated on 3.1.3 on 3GS but it has not been released yet. In fact you can also jailbreak the latest beta 2 4.0 firmware too.
you should never pay money for a jailbreaking solution as they are all apparantly based on the free solutions provided by the dev team/geohot etc (with some sort of wrapper), and from what I have seen they all claim to jailbreak the latest firmwares, even on the same day the firmware becomes available. The stories I have read say that these companies just say "its coming soon" when you complain it doesn't work. Also, you have no idea who writes these reviews

Masseur, the website I used is the one advertised above i.e. iphone-unlocker pro.com. They say they can unlock 3.1.3 but fail to mention the modem version 05.12.01.
I have asked for a refund and paid for it by Paypal so am covered hopefully. They have 24/7 support although this does not mean they answer emails straight away!!
Thanks
Doug

Thank you for your comment. Before everyone thinks I am a prat, a few notes in my defence! This site is advertised on here, in this "other manufacturers" forum. They advertise that they can unlock any phone, even 3.1.3. What they don't say is that they can't unlock 05.12.01 or that is what iI presume as mine stalled on the rebooting screen.
Now I am new to the Iphone and did not know of this when I ordered the unlocking/jailbreaking. And yes, I now know that it is still not able to be jailbroken but don't make me out to be an idiot!
If anything, the unlocker site is guilty of false advertising and I have told them the same. I await a refund but their 24/7 support line is obviously not quite 24/7 as I have heard nothing from them for 2 days. Perhaps the 24/7 does not apply to weekends/bank holidays etc?

Thanks, downloaded. Is this okay to use on my 3.1.3 (05.12.01) before I start?
Can I use ITunes 9.1 okay?

its does say:-
any iphone on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.2 so that covers all basebands in that range too
also it does say any version of itunes 9, so your 9.1 should be ok.
its worth having a read through the comments at the bottom of the page for issues with windows 7 (where you need to run in compatibility mode), and for any other comments relevant to you before deciding to go ahead
most of all, make sure you have a backup! this should be done each time you connect to itunes but you can also do it manually by right clicking your phone in itunes and choosing "Back up"

if you've got cydia installed then you're jailbroken for sure.
try downloading a couple of apps of interest through cydia if this is your first jailbreak.
as for sms, my phone is almost always silent/vibrate as I dislike ringtones blaring out, so I'll let someone else advise you on that
