Any idea whether using headphones with an inline microphone, like ones for the iPhone, would work with the W995? Would there be any loss in functionality, or would they only work as headphones?

Just wondering why would you like to exchange the original HPM-77 headset (that came with my W995i) to the headphones of Apple ... Apple headphones are known as very bad ones (sound) and the HPM-77 not only that it comes also with a microphone on the cord the headphones self are known as the best inear headphones out there .... is it the color?

I was asking for a simple answer, not your criticisms.

I just tried it. The controls on the inline remote on the Apple headphones don't work, you can't answer or hang up calls, change the volume and the mic doesn't work. Only the phone's adapter mic and button function.

@JD UK

I think you are little sensitive there mate. pt020 was just wondering, as I also am, not criticising you.
It's not what you do or even how you do it but in what state of mind you do it: Dups! 2009

Hi Guest,
As a Walkman handset, music is obviously the core skill for the W995 and it has all the features we've come to expect, with exceptionally good sound quality augmented by Clear Stereo and Clear Bass features, as well as a five-band graphic equaliser and FM radio with RDS.

they would just work as normal headphones. the +, - and microphone would not do anything.

They're pointless when it has a 3.5mm jack, using the fastport instead is just a waste.

I never said anything about using Apple earphones specifically; I merely mentioned them as an example. I never asked for anybody's opinion on the quality of Apple earphones and, quite frankly, couldn't give a damn. Thank you to those who have answered my question, and to those who are able to appreciate where I am coming from and my reasons for asking without my having to mention them.

Dude chill, maybe if you were more clearer on explaining what you wanted to know, you could have received a more actuate response.
