I just got the c901, and wanted to look up some possible mods/upgrades for it but I am having problems with this... So i tried updating the firmware with SEUS but its not being detected, and I have no idea if its up to date.

My firmware is currently R1EA030, which is the latest? Also, besides this upgrade are there anything else to upgrade besides a few cam drivers I saw?

I noticed that my phone is able to go into mass storage mode, but my laptop cannot detect it? It sees the phone folder in my computer, but then it says the phone is not connected, while the phone is in mass storage mode... is my phone faulty?

Ill give that a go, however I should have made myself clear that its actually my phone that does not turn on when holding the "c" and plugging in the cable. After about 30-60 secs it will however go into mass storage mode by itself if the cable is left plugged in.

solutions to those problems are posted in the links
try holding key 2 instead of C
or hold keys 2 and 5 whilst connecting phone
clean fastport... there could be many reasons or it could be faulty

thanks for your help so far, i went through all the threads with no luck. however i should be able to flash the phone to the new firmware correct? now i flashed my old k850i, but i don't remember much about the process. Either way, which firmware do you recommend? i don't know the difference between GA and EA etc... I am living in Canada

I would recomend latest 028 or 033.
Theres a tutorial on esato for flashing it and other c901 user did it. Search in the sticky folder in soft/firmware driver section

okay great, ill try that. but there is just one more thing that is annoying me... this didn't happen with my k850i, but did with some other phones i purchased from asia. When speaking on the phone, do any users hear a soft electric sound or squeaky sound? its really random, but somewhat annoying because im really picky... Maybe its the reception? I have it on 3G mode, but i do not see the 3G symbol..

EDIT - the sound is hard to explain, but its like the sound when u get a text message and ur phone is by the speakers.. but really faint. could the reception be screwing around with the phone speaker?
