I seem to have a problem when trying to update my C905 via SEUS. I followed the instructions on the update service but it doesn't seem to detected by SEUS at all even when pressing down C (or 2+5) buttons while the USB data cable was plugged in the phone.

I recently got it debranded from the Vodaphone firmware and now have:
R1DA030 prg1205-9079_Generic_SI.

Update: I managed to get SEUS to detect the phone on my PC but not on my boy-friends PC which was strange. I had a feeling it would say "No software is available for your phone". "Your phone already has the latest available software installed".
I also have the same problem with my C510 which was debranded from Orange firmware and have: R1DA029 prg1212-395_GENERIC_KT.
Is it something to do with the EROM/CDI that causing it not to update via SEUS? I don't what the CDI's are on my phones.

@ StevenC: Thanks for the info. I have tried your method to try to resvole this issue i am having updating with SEUS and it still comes up with the same message.

You sure it's not to do with the firmware rather then PC as it's states on the Sony Ericsson website that they produce many variants of each product, for different countries and languages and if you cannot update the software with Update Service, it could be because the software has not been approved by your service provider, operator, or carrier.

I also done some more research into this and have read on other mobile fourm that it can depend on what files and CDA did they used during the flashing/unbranding and did they manually type in a Generic CDA. SEUS depends on CDA, which tells about what model, region and branding the phone needs. SEUS will tell you that you have the newest firmware if:
* You have a branded CDA number (like Vodafone, etc) - SEUS has no newer branded firmware
* You have selected the wrong phone model in the CDA
* You actually do have the latest firmware

C905: CDA12345678/123 R11A 1205-9083 R1DA030
IEOW
TELSTRA

C510: CDA 12345678/123 R11A 1212-2420 R1DA029
1E0W
CENTRAL-EUROPE.

Both of them does look odd/wrong to me so i think i may have found the root of the problem!

So as i have used "non-official SE or 3rd party" firmware on both phones and i can no longer update via SEUS anymore, would it mean if i wanted another newer firmware, would i need to go through the same process?

I finally got my firmware updated on my C905 to R1FA035 1205-9095 CID53 (Generic Western_Europe and it has fixed the 3G problem and i'm so glad! Time to update my K810i and C510 (which is affect by the 3G software bug as well) with the latest firmware too.
