Hello,
My K850i works fine, except for when I send a text, half way through sending a text the screen goes black, the buttons light up and it becomes unresponsive. If I wait til it goes into standby (button light turns off) it comes back to life and is normal. It constantly does this and I keep having to wait til standby, it also does this elsewhere when I'm just using the phone.

I tried using sony ericsson update, it said I had the latest update so I reinstalled the software, the problem still didn't go! I also tried flashing it back to the software I was using, via A2 uploader, and this still didn't work (nor did a master reset).

The phone is out of warranty so repairing it will probably be expencive. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks for any possible help or suggestions!

EDIT: I just started playing around with the phone, it seems that the phone still works fine when the screen goes black, if I continue typing it is still registered. So I assume its an LCD related problem. But its strange that it generally only happens when I start texting?

check the ribbon connector that connects the motherboard with the lcd, probably the ribbon socket on either side has loosen and when texting it will pulled the ribbon off the connector and the black screen occurs...

i've not experience such problem and please get other opinions too...

No I'm not sure but it might be good to open it up and make sure every connector is clean and sits in its place.

Thanks, I'll try this, I ordered the screwdriver set, should hopefully come tomorrow, will keep you updated!

Btw, LCD doesn't work at all now, either the connector has completely come off, or the LCD is dead and I'll buy a new one!

just keenly following this thread...

my k850i has just started doing this... at first the screen went off every so often... however in the past 2 days... just the slightest touch on the left hand size of the keypad (without actually touching a button) the screen will shut off... and keypad lights up...

thinking about ordering a replacement lcd screen.. or replacement keypad... not sure which it would be...

cheers

ive started to have same problems as Coxon and A, lcd turns off when:
press the down button
press the number 4
or press gently between number 4 + 5

strange that it has only started to happen since ive given my one month cancellation notice.

master reset doesnt work, im going to try other methods to fix it.....(eg hitting, smashing etc)

hi, sorry....

but ive tried squashing the keypad with my fingers, i pressed quite hard, and now its even worse...more buttons are now affected than before. so brute force is not the answer...STUPID PHONES!!! the old ones are so much more reliable!! i am no longer intersted in new mobiles anymore! (unless someone knows the answer to my problem)

(Try this method before changing your lcd screen or other else)

I have experience about this matter last time, this happened because the back light suddenly off when there is short circuit between the flex cable and the metal part just below the flex cable. You can try this and is ok after that.

good luck
