hi,
i have a strange problem with my k850i now. The screen just goes blank after a couple of
minutes (off) completely... I can still access the menu.. like as if i am using it with my eyes closed..
after which if turned off and on everything is OK...!!! The screen is ON..
Does anyone know the reason..??
and this happened when i was using opera 5 mini...
so maybe problem with Opera or is it a bug in the firmware.???
someone pls help me...

Yeah, flashing would be good choice to begin with.

If problem still persist after flashing, you need to show it to se service center.

I never thought this would happen on a K850i...

STOP Don't flash yet!!!

This always happened to me when using Opera mini on my old w800i. I think it has something to do with Opera Mini. All you have to do is to go to the service menu (->*

YEAH!!!!! POST 300!

hi bluechip
your phone screen goes blank when #1. pressing the left d-pad button, #2. accessing om 5, #3. taking pictures using manual setting and it seems that everything are fine when you restarted the phone and all these happend after the phone got wet...imho these are hardware related issues caused by the rain which sipped into the phone.

try to access your phone using mpe (extras > phone keypad) which means that no buttons are physically pressed and report back the outcome here...

This happened to me,no matter which way i pressed the d-pad or any other key, it goes off. I just replaced the keypad....it's working normal now.Try to do that, this just happened to me,no rainy days no nothing.I really don't think it's because of the water damage, because my phone was soaked from rain while driving my Virago several times, nothing happened. So like I said,i just replaced my keypad, not expensive and doesn't hurt to try.

I guess mpe means MyPhone Explorer. now you understand i guess. If not, read the sticky thread here in software, firmware and drivers section.

that's right ceaser2008....
by using mpe (MyPhoneExplorer) you can partly determined either it's a hardware or software issues, meaning if your phone can be assessed by mpe (without physically touching the phone keypad) that means your software/firmware is ok, so probably your phone hardware need to be checked ie d-pad/keypad buttons, motherboard, contacts ribbon etc....the common way to get the phone back to working condition if it get wet (not so much wet ) just dry it using a hair-dryer.

btw pal, i'm not a hardware/software technician, it is just a suggestion and please get other opinions too

Thanks mallaccra, and you all,
I think i got it.. yesterday i had a visit to the service center. I showed my phone and they said without a doubt
that its a display problem, meaning i need to replace the display. I did'nt give it, and thought of opening myself.
Came home and opened it (thanks to the disassembly video), found so many dust inside, cleaned it, did a little bit
investigation and closed it. When power on IT GOT BROD. So i flashed it. Again turned on this time DISPLAY was
COMPLETELY GONE...!!!! I thought its my mistake. Pressed a few keys still no way. Pressed the middle soft key,
it started the demo video (as hadn't installed custom pack, it was on the "configuration error message").
I could stop and start the video... and i can hear the sound... but NOTHING ON THE SCREEN..
And hence i concluded that the DISPLAY had completely GONE..!!!!
Now i had ordered a Display from my friends shop to change it..
BTW do you have any suggestion to make on this... if so pls feel free to do so...
Thankyou all..
