Well today i have took the plunge and got a c902 from Carphone for £129. Its a lovely well built phone and so far pleased with it. Its charging at the moment. The small screen does not bother me i had 2 inch one for years on my old k800i plus the colours are warm and its nice and sharp. Will let you all know how i get on.

Nice purchase mate. Just keep an eye on the battery cover as over time. The C902's battery cover tends to not sit properly at one edge. Other than that the only other fault i've experienced on mine was the memory card reader would occasionally not work when a memory card was put in. Great phone otherwise and I never got any dust on the slider mech either.
Have a look for a top section protector and screen protector. The Ebay seller HQNA used to do a pack of both for a very good price and were really good quality.

Yes its a lovely phone and seeing its latest firmware should not be so much trouble with it as its been out a while now. Build seems great so far. How do you mean over time the cover does not sit properly? Does it start to move or wobble slightly? As long as it does not actually fall off like my 995 cover did. Picture quality is sharp and this is my first 5 mega pixel from SonyEricsson.
As regards to dust well i shall do what i did with my old k800i joystick. Thin out a cotton bud and wipe away any excess dust. I do look after my phones. Only thing i am finding is menus not quite as speedy as other phones by SonyEricsson.

Cheers mate i shall have fun. Rookwise how is your c901 going? Is it reliable so far? God i am getting over fussy about the reliability issue. By the way i forgot to say i had £20 off so only paid £110 because my brother gave me his old battered Nokia to trade in.

Mine is black, week 26. Strange, any weaknesses build-wise should've been ironed out by week 37 Anyway, I wish you better luck with your new C902

I've got 3 C902's mate. 2 black with a july and august 2008 manufacture and a red one with a february 2009 manufacture. Both the black ones have seen between 3 to 8 weeks use and the red one 2 months use. The battery cover doesn't sit properly on all 3. All in the same place's in the bottom right corner as you look at the back of the phone. The cover still feels tight but you can tell its lifted up as there is a bit of wobble on the cover. I've had the memory card problem on all of them as well.
My C901 is still going great. No problems so far. Tried using my C905 today and ended up getting the 901 back out lol.

Hey there. Just joined the forum for this specific topic. I've just recieved a w705, it's 2 weeks old, looks absolutely amazing, but the slide issues are killin' me. I've been faithful to Sony for quite some time, going from a k300i, then w200, k800, G900 and P990i (I'm still the proud owner of the last one). None of my phones had any problems. You might notice, for sure, that all of them are candybars (the P990 has the "mutant" keyboard, though). What happens with my 1st slider?! It has a VERY loose slide.
I kept asking here and there for an official service (I'm from Romania), but can the loose slide actually be fixed!? I'm willing to pay, no probs, but I want to stop searching if it ain't possible. Any ideas? |

Is your slide wobbly when closed and tightens up a little when opened ? My dad has gone through 4 of them so far via O2 uk but all have come with the same build quality on the slider. As mentioned. When closed the gap between the 2 sections is quite big and theres some very noticeable wobble. When opening the slide is quite strong on resistance and tightens up when opened with no wobble at all and the gap seems to close slightky as well. My dad wont try another type as he likes the W705. He's had it to replace his K800 which he had on its day of release (his last upgrade was a C902 but he didnt like it). I'm thinking of buying a red/black one as a spare to my C905. I think the W705's keypad is good to use as well.
I tried sniffing coke once but didnt like it. The bubbles kept going up my nose |

It's wobbly both when open or not, that's why I'm worried. It never tightens. I've tried inserting a small piece of paper between the upper and lower parts of the phone, and it seemed to work. Only it kept falling out some time after 4-5 slides, and it got annoying. I still keep my opinion, it's a great phone to use, and I like it better by the day
My question remains valid, however: is there ANY (and I do mean it literally) way to fix a phone slide? |

I had a C901 that I loved, but it kept turning off and refusing to turn back on. I sent it in to Sony for service and they said it wasn't fixable. The C901 was never available commercially in North America (I bought it online) so they couldn't replace it. They offered to send me a W995 instead, which I accepted, but now I'm kind of regretting it- the photos don't look too great on it from what I've seen. I haven't received it yet, it's supposed to get here in a few days.
