I have been unlucky. Only thing i will say is the sound quality is very good for music which has grunt like with bass. If you play classical music on the w995 no matter which setting its muddy sounding but for every other type of music it sounds solid. But its not aimed at classical music fans and the music player was not my problem. It was build and buggy software. I too have had long lasting phones by them and i still love them but i shall not buy another slide phone by them again.

@mode.... that you have a W800i it still does not say you know how to use it ...

Ditto

you can not put the W995i in the same setting as the W800i cos the W995 has a poor version of so called equalizer ... with 3 steps up and 3 down.... the equalizer of the W800i is 8 steps up and 8 down, the sound get much more effected by it then in the W995i ... the W995 has also so called clear bass... now it is so clear that you can hardly hear it!, the megabass of the W800i is too hard but with the real equalizer i can fix it .

Of course I can and I have compared them apple to apple for instance if I use 1 step up for W995 I use 3-4 steps up for W800 which would produce a similar sound. I will try your equalizer when I get back and I'll show you mine as well, maybe we can compare notes

sounds fair.

sorry to hear about your problems with your connection,this was always a problem with the fast port connections,so if you do not listen to the radio much...try to find yourself a stereo bluetooth headset,no connection anymore and the sound is good,i have 3 different bluetooth receivers (the HBH-DS200/205/220) and if you have already good headphones then the DS200 is the best buy,the 205 might have music controls but it's sound is not as good as the 200/220.
The W980 is known as a very good player and has a stereo bluetooth so if you can just get it will save you lots of headaches

the build of the s700 feels lovely,perfectly weighted keypress,solid slider that locks in place with a satisfying click,rock solid battery cover,very good camera cover etc etc.

My S700 still works to this day eventhough it was out of commission for a while after getting soaked with pool water (the same thing happened to my P990 as well, that too is still good and healthy to this day). But just in case it would die on me, I bought myself an S700 test set from my SE technician friend which is still in excellent condition, I'd frame it if this act isn't considered as overdoing it

you can also buy an all new S700 ....

Thanks so much, mate. I just love the phone that's why i have to look for other alternative. Sadly SE stores here in the Philippines do not carry those accessories. Even HPM-77, they don't have it.

So I'll be ordering those online

@pt020

I've tried your eq setting with my Sony MDR-NC22 Noice Cancelling headset and here's my conclusion:

Your Sennheiser headset may take that particular eq well but it's way too much bass for mine and sounds too muffled for me to enjoy, especially my favourite R&B/Soul songs with a lot of bass. The best eq for me for W800 is relatively the same eq I enjoy with W995 which is this (btw, the photo was taken with W995, doesn't look half as bad as you keep mentioning eh?)

I personally use this for my W995:

Clear Bass = 1 or 2 steps

I find that this setting balances low-end response, and its midrange frequencies seem a bit clearer, very well and very similar to the sound in W995. Try it and you'll see. But unfortunately the bass is not as prominent as I would like it and switching to Megabass...well..we don't wanna go there do we. This is where the charm of Clear Bass won me, I can choose how much bass I want on top of my eq of choice, for instance, I usually use +2 steps of Clear Bass for the Rock genre and +1 step for R&B/Soul. I seriously don't think W995 is a step down, it's a step up but in a different way which needs some getting used to.

If you're unhappy with the W995 6-step eq vs W800 16-step eq, then that's probably because of your personal preference. Please note that even Sony's top of the line, best selling iPod contender X-series Walkman has a 6-step eq similar to W995. If Sony thought a 16-step eq for its 'comeback' Walkman device would kill the competition, they would've done it, how hard could it be? But they didn't because they probably thought it was unnecessary. Probably just like how you can't hear the difference between a 192kbps encoded MP3 and a 320kbps one with your bare ears. Check out any review site and they tell you how X-series blow the iPod and other competitors out of the water.

And again, I and many others don't need the extra 30% volume, even more now that I use Noise Cancelling headsets. Yes, what about those who want that 30% more volume (and 30% faster ear fatigue, damaged hearing etc lol)? Well this is one of the things that sits nicely in the "no one phone has everything" category, I'm very sorry this preference of yours isn't included but it by no means says it's a lousy music phone.

So seriously mate, just because you prefer something some other way doesn't mean it's bad for everyone else

thanks for your message
never had Sennheiser headset,would not mind to try.

I use Bose headphones,and as you see from my setting I like to feel bass,and this headphones can have it,they really move like speakers everytime the bass hits and i feel it on my ears,i also like different music then you like ,thats why we use different settings.
I still do not agry with you that you can compare the W800i EQ to the W995i ... it is just different world,but in your setting you will not feel it.
about Noise Cancelling headsets... I orderd the HPM-88 2 days ago,must come in the next few days(or today)... do not expect them to be better then my Bose are just never had something like this and want to know and feel it.
(but i wonder can it cancel the voice of my partner? )
my favorite combination

Oops...I don't know how I made that mistake , you've always been a Bose man haven't you

Hope you'll like them and I'm sure you will if they're anything like the pair of Sony's I'm using

(but i wonder can it cancel the voice of my partner? )

Ironically the more you cancel out your partner's noise, the louder it'll be and I'm talking through experience here

Glad we had this little talk mate

@Bonovox

You sure you've never been to any of the pharaoh's tombs or something mate? The jinx you have might be an Egyptian curse of some sort, cause I sure as hell had my W995 dropped countless times already now, even earlier today (on the road asphalt 3 times already to date) and it still looks, feels and functions great
